I'm not sure whether any 'Just A Notion' CD singles have yet been shipped to UK addresses - those sales figures may help it a little. Amazon UK appear to be out of stock.

No sign of my JAN cd yet, very odd. Also, not in the uk top 100?! Do Friday, Saturday and Sunday sales not count yet? Let's hope the radio plays this week create some momentum. I must say, I have not seen any TV adverts, either for Just A Notion or the new album? I wouldn't know JAN was out without this site! I work in an office all day, 5 days a week so don't hear the radio too often! Only heard JAN on You Tube. I still love it, so cheerful! Great with ear phones! Can't wait to hear it properly! Maybe TV ads will start towards the end of next week? Has anyone heard anything about the documentary that was supposed to have been filmed?

^^^ No TV Ads and very unlikely for JAN, also Friday Saturday and Sunday go towards this weeks chart... Hopefully a top 40 ..... it was 14 on first look ... Voyage will start being pushed sometime soon...

I haven't received my JAN CD either, @alib - not even an email to say it's been dispatched.
I have to say that the No.14 placing really surprised me. Given the reception the single first got here and the closeness to the album date, I thought it'd simply be a radio star. I'm guessing that the chart position might have something to do with digital preorders of the album? As in, the track automatically adds to the libraries of anyone who ordered the digital edition of the album? But I've been surprised at how often I've heard JAN on the radio already. The BBC seem to be right behind it!

Same here. Last time, the email to say the CD singles were being despatched was sent on the Monday at 16:47 and I think I received them on the Tuesday, so hopefully we’ll hear something today.
Anyone relying on the official store for the album to arrive on the Friday might need to have a contingency plan…
The orange vinyl on Amazon keeps coming back on sale and then out of stock again. They have the deluxe CD box but not the standard version. This must be putting some people off from ordering.
Scott Mills just played Just A Notion on Radio 2. The nearest we’ll get to Radio 1 playing it (Scott Mills has a regular show on Radio 1 but is providing holiday cover on Radio 2 for Ken Bruce).

We know this (don't we?) that when it comes to music it's all down to personal taste - often one person's dud might be another's great track. Which one has got the superior taste in music? Musically, I regard Dum Dum Diddle as an 8, but lyrically (only because I find the subject-matter bewildering for a pop song - the words hang together OK) it's a 4. So if the lyrics really mattered to me - sometimes I couldn't care less if the music side of things grabs my interest - I'd give DDD a 6 perhaps. EDIT This post was intended for the 'Voyage:: Official Reviews' thread. Apologies.

I'm surprised my cd single still hasn't arrived, I was sure it would be today! The voyage shop definitely cannot be relied upon to receive the album come release day sadly....

You get that full euphoric rush when the chorus kicks in that all the best Abba songs deliver. I don't really mind the words - they don't ruin the song for me (as duff lyrics sometimes do).

Just a quick take on the three new songs:
ISHFIY and DSMD - top-drawer. Couldn't have reasonably hoped for better. Took a few listens to wrap my head around them properly and grasp the enormity of their brilliance. Hugely emotional and gob-smacking. JAN - so-so. Here and there has a sprinkling of magic dust but the core song is a bit pedestrian by ABBA standards. Again, gets better with a few listens but from a much lower base and with a much lower ceiling. Might be a decent momentum-maintainer on the album but highly unlikely (I hope...) to be any kind of standout, or 'key track', there. Still, I'll always happily settle for average ABBA. And average new ABBA is, of course, a whole different species altogether.

Welcome back, thisboycries!
I more or less agree with you about JAN. I like it much more than I did with my first few listens, particularly the vocals and Benny's piano, especially the ending and outro. But I can't really take to the boogie shuffle rhythm - not as used in this song, anyway.

Welcome back, Barry @thisboycries. I did wonder what had happened to you!
Can’t really disagree with you there. I think I was expecting too much of Just A Notion, that I would suddenly love it and think it was one of their best songs ever after being less than enamoured with the ABBA Undeleted snippet for 27 years.
It is, of course, only the fourth previously-unreleased complete track (after I Am The City, Put On Your White Sombrero and Dream World) to finally get officially put out. Unlike the others, it’s only the vocals that are old but nevertheless I’m not sure I could compare it to (what I hope are) nine completely new songs/recordings. For me it will remain a diversion from the main event.

I’ve had an email a minute ago saying that the order has been dispatched. So it should come within the next couple of days. I think that should be the same for everybody else in the UK.

And sure enough, the email has just arrived (over 20 minutes later than it did last time!). Can’t really complain though when it’s quite a bit cheaper than the £8.15 Amazon currently have it for.

It is quite poor really. With the singles it’s not so bad as it’s only one song we can hear many other ways, but if they do this with the album (which seems likely) it’s at least four days after release that people will receive it.
I don’t know when Amazon and other online stores plan to deliver, but I’m starting to think this will actually help the likes of HMV etc. At least by going in there on the day, I’m guaranteed to get it. If I relied on the official store, I’d find it absolutely unbearable that other people would have a physical copy four days before I did!
Maybe it’s just the singles they’re doing like this, and that they’ll pull out all the stops to deliver the album on time.

It took Amazon 3 weeks to deliver Don't Shut Me Down. I should have cancelled and ordered from the Voyage website.
I ordered Voyage from HMV but it will only be sent out on day of release and take a few days.
No HMV store near me.

That's odd that the JAN CD single is taking so long to arrive. I received my copy last Friday, on the release date. I ordered from platenzaak.nl.

I ordered from platenzaak.nl too - but have received nothing. Not even an email to say that it's been dispatched. And with their eye-watering delivery costs, that's not very impressive. Grr.

My copy arrived today (ordered from German Voyage website). I can tell you guys... you don't have to regret you don't have it yet. The sound is worse than through the computer speakers. The song has been growing on me during the recent days and the excitement's been building but listening to the CD-single was a bit like taking a cold shower...

I haven't even received a dispatch e-mail yet and I ordered it last Monday at 10:16am. I received the first two singles later than most other people on here, even though I ordered them on the evening of Thursday 2nd September. And I'm not sure that I got a dispatch notice for them - I might have got it on the day the singles arrived but if I did, I've deleted it. This is really not good enough - I expected the JAN CD to be sent out on Thursday or on Friday at the latest. Thank goodness I didn't order the "Voyage" album only from their store.

Welcome back, thisboycries! Thanks very much for the warm welcome back, Richard/Alan/Eddie. Are we allowed to call Alan 'the gaffer' now? After wandering the web wilderness for a while, I felt the inexorable gravitational pull of ABBAchat once again and was clearly well within the event horizon of the release of new ABBA material! Just ticking off the days now till the thwack of the letterbox signals that time really has doubled-back on itself and cosmic order is restored... When ISHFIY and DSMD were unleashed, I must have spent a fortnight just gorging on them - and even on all those daft 'reaction videos' that clog up YouTube. I think I was still trying (and failing) to process what was happening. When Benny had mentioned the words 'new album' back on September 2, well... that was an incredible - and incredibly emotional - moment. Like stumbling on a magical caravanserai after years traipsing through pitiless desert sands! And it wasn't a bloomin' mirage!!!! JAN has brought me back to Earth just a tad, although I wouldn't want to overstate the point. But it's safeguarded me from letting totally unreasonable expectations spin wildly out of control where the full album's concerned. Maybe that's the wily plan underlying JAN's release!

I know not that many of us are concerned about chart positions here in the UK, However Id just like to see them keep there top 40 positions intact, with JAN being at 26 in the mid weeks its not looking promising...alas..
That said I've noticed a lot of us are getting JAN from non UK websites, ( seriously not criticizing) I believe that these will not count to UK totals, please correct me if I'm wrong... Also there appears to be a delay in dispatches in the UK, my question is .. if paid for in the UK but not dispatched is that still counted ?

I've received my cd, have to agree with you Michal, sound quality not as good as expected (I still like the song). However, I won't let it spoil my excitement for the 5th! Of the 3 songs so far, I wouldn't skip any of them whilst listening to the album in years to come! I have a feeling that JAN is just a nod to their early 70's style and Benny indulging his love of dance band music, good on him! Hi thisboycries! Your comment about expectations made me think, are we expecting a full album of Dancing Queen ...(insert your favourite song here) type hits!?
Regarding the sound quality on JAN, from a technical point of view, does anyone know if there would have been issues mixing old and new parts of the song?

I think it is just this week's new releases. So JAN would be #7 for new releases and a lot lower if existing charting songs included.

When Benny had mentioned the words 'new album' back on September 2, well... that was an incredible - and incredibly emotional - moment.
Yes indeed! That is one of the most amazing moments in all my ABBA fandom. We were expecting that there just might be a new album. I was fully prepared to be told it would just be two or maybe up to five new songs.
But when Benny actually told us there was a new ABBA album my brain almost exploded!! What an amazing moment that was! Confirmation of something we could not have even imagined just three years ago!!
It was such an amazing, incredible moment, that announcement, to hear those three words: "a new album"!
I still can't get over how lucky we ABBA fans are that they decided to create a whole new album.
