It’s an interesting article, not much that we don’t already know but there are a few questions from fans......

That’s brilliant, lamont. I really enjoyed that, and about 100 times better than the actual video they did! First time I’ve heard the song this year too. Hopefully won’t get taken down as there’s no ABBATar footage.

There’s yet another interview, this time in Saturday‘s Times newspaper. What’s it all for - to remind people the show is ongoing and to buy tickets for loved ones for Christmas?

Björn mentions Foo Fighters but I think he must mean Fugees (unless Foo Fighters also sampled ABBA and it somehow escaped my attention).
Also, a Voyage stadium possibly in Singapore and North America one day? That would be something else!

Good pic of Benny here, with the Hep Stars. I didn’t realise he had shorter hair when he was with them, I’d only seen pics of him with a bob haircut from that period (probably because of that often-seen Hep Stars album cover).

Good pic of Benny here, with the Hep Stars. Benny looks gorgeous in this pic. I've never seen him short-haired, beardless and happy - all at the same time!

I'd be interested to know which are Howard's favourite ABBA songs.

FYI......
With just a few weeks to go, Gold is currently the 10th best selling album of 2022 in the UK album charts with approx 181,000 sales....
Unlikely now to make 200,000 , as sales are steady of around 4000 per week, which normally means it will drop down the charts, due to Christmas rush of others only to rally in the New Year..
Currently at 19, another top 20. For the record so far... weeks in top 10...74....top 20...185 ...top 40..439...top 100 ..1074
Voyage... well we will have to wait until end of year charts are published to see if it’s made the top 100.

Thirty years on, that's pretty damned impressive. I guess the show is playing a significant role in this. It would be nice if Voyage made the end-of-year list too, but nobody will suffer if it doesn't. I suspect the increased visibility of Benny and Bjorn lately has a secondary role in lifting the fortunes of the albums.

Sales
As I mentioned before Gold could end up in Year End Top 10 for only 2nd time (after 1999). It will fall shy of 200k sales but that is still highest figure for quite a few years.
Voyage I am predicting it WILL make the Year End Top 100 albeit near the bottom. I estimate sales will be 65-70k. Last year's #100 sold 68k - and sales have declined since then.
Gold's 3x "sales" over Voyage is down to Streaming. In actual sales, Voyage should be slightly ahead.

Yes, I’d say Voyage should make the top 100, based on its sales/streams in the first part of the year. The second “3” on the second row of the chart run below is for week ending 13 January. Obviously sales are always low in January but hopefully will be enough.

Voyage's stay in the Top 100 may not have been that long but it did much better in the Sales Chart - and would have been just outside the Official Top 100 for quite a few weeks.
Interesting to see the slight increase in sales after the Voyage show opened and it sneaked back into the Main Chart for a couple of weeks
Voyage spent 10 weeks in the Top 10. That is only one less than Super Trouper - and three more than The Visitors. Front-loaded sales are nothing new. Voyage had to compete with Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Adele too.

My Australian Edition of Voyage arrived today. Not good in terms of carbon footprint. Manufactured in the Netherlands, exported to Australia, ordered from Singapore and delivered to there, brought over to Kent and then sent on to me in Derby. And remarkably it’s in perfect condition. The splatter can vary by item. I perhaps prefer the other variants but I had to have this one. Number 9 and likely the last. I don’t have the standard black version.

I've collected all the 'Voyage' vinyl variants as well, having pre-ordered the Australian version a year ago. When it finally arrived a few months ago, I was underwhelmed by the splatter design, particularly since it bore no resemblance to the original image advertised on the Australian ABBA Shop website:

Yes, the illustration did look better. Thankfully I’d seen plenty of photos of the actual thing long before it was ordered, so I knew exactly what to expect! The splatter design is a bit similar to that used for the coloured vinyl Voulez-Vous singles box in 2019. It looked slightly better in blue and white though!
I do like the fact that “Australian Edition” is printed in the artwork though. The others just had stickers. It meant I didn’t have to label this one up on a plastic cover!

Alan/Evilincarnate How many vinyl editions do you have? Have you played any of them? Nine: Green, White, Orange translucent, Orange solid (“Show edition”), Blue, Yellow, Australian, Artwork picture disc, ABBATar artwork picture disc. Nope, not played any of them. Sound quality isn’t great from what I have read. Not just because of the colours and pics but because Universal use the cheapest pressing plants. The standard black vinyl apparently gives the best sound quality (I don’t have it) but even then there will be surface noise. Sony and Warner apparently use more expensive pressing plants so sound quality would be better. What was done for Voyage is now fairly standard practice. Paul McCartney’s last album had a similar number of variants. It was a one-off for me. It’s not going to happen again and was the first and only ABBA album in 40 years. It started off as two or three versions but gradually grew. I only have two CD editions - the alternative artwork and the deluxe box. Of all 11 versions, it’s the deluxe box that I regret. Overpriced and now down to £4.99. I thought it would be limited but it’s anything but. The alternative artwork CD is much more rare. HMV soon sold out of those last year.

Yes, the illustration did look better. Well, it is a rare item, but it could look much better than it does. Universal simply is not able to produce really great looking vinyls and I often envid Fans of other groups like e.g. Depeche Mode for really oustanding vinyls. I do collect such coloured vinyls but the ABBA penned ones are not among ny favourites, apart from some picture Discs. Ironically, Alan, the Black Version of Voyage is the only one which SOUNDS pristine...
