OK, so on a4e there was an Agnetha lookalikes thread. Everything was tried, from Jenny Agutter, to Felicity Kendal, to that lass off Sky Soccer AM with the Torquay United tattoo on her bottom. They all fell well short, to be frank. Only one submission comfortably passed the drminagh/cerulean 'worth posting' test (just trying to entice you here Joseph!): Titti Sjöblom. Titti's photo is sometimes mixed up with Agnetha's, because she was her understudy (to cut a long story short) and successor in Jesus Christ Superstar. So I thought, why not start this thread with the gold standard lookalotalike against which others will be compared? Here she is with her mum, the legendary Alice Babs: And here she is with Agnetha. Note that they both have similar hair, except only one of them is close to Agnetha's natural colour *cough* By no means all of Titti's photos show a good likeness, and they aren't that easy to turn up on the internet. So as well as finding other lookalikes, can anyone come up with closer Titti Sjöblom matches than I've found? By the way, present day Titti can be more easily located, because she remains musically active with Ehrling Eliasson. The resemblance to Agnetha may have diminished, but she is certainly holding back the years in similar fashion: Just a bit of fun! Happy hunting

Nasty cough you got there! Been out late in your bodypaint? Ann-Margret could go for Frida in "Mad About The Boy", I'd say, and not just because of the hairdo. (Is that really the best word in English for "frisure"?)

Now this was a pretty popular thread on a4e, albeit that most of the lookalikes bore a fleeting resemblance at best. I'm going to give ABBAchatters the benefit of the doubt and assume that the Titti suggestion in my first post is so far ahead of the field that she has effectively killed off any other offerings. But part of the fun of the thread was meant to be the opportunity to guffaw at less than credible lookalikes, so why not post anyone that remotely catches your eye? I'll try to dig out a few old ones, but in the meantime here's further evidence that Titti will probably remain in pole position. At a push they could be sisters here [/url]

Maybe shoshin wasn't impressed, but I still think that the soprano Mirella Freni, whose photos I posted at the old forum, did look a lot like Agnetha when she was younger.

^^ Especially top right? Coincidentally I was already intending to post on this thread tonight. I was watching a retrospective tv show about the career of comedian Les Dawson, and a very popular UK 1960s/70s game show called The Golden Shot was referenced. The compere's assistant, Anne Aston (known on the programme as 'The Golden Girl' rather than 'the girl with the golden hair') immediately reminded me of Agnetha, but I haven't turned up much convincing photo evidence. Here's the best I could find; maybe nose and eyes?

You can tell by her body proportions in the first picture that she's pretty short. Haha, and sorry about the inconvenience... I didn't expect anybody to figure this out Anyway, I'm still quite mind blown by her resemblance to Agnetha (except that she's a bit more chubby...). Here are a few more

I noticed that the model is Latvian. While one needs to be careful discussing disputed anthropological racial terms, Agnetha is quite commonly cited as having Baltic as well as Nordic facial features. I sort of see, or think I see, something in that around Agnetha's eyes when she smiles hard, though these kind of distinctions may well be long discredited nonsense.

That makes sense because the two areas are pretty close geographically, but I'm really not sure what Baltic features are like, except that many of the people there are blondes... And you mean 'commonly cited' by whom? Because this is the first time that I hear about this.

I've come across several threads like this one: s1.zetaboards.com/anthroscape/topic/2648274/1/Need to be careful though, because although the above forum seems genuine enough from what I can see, my understanding is that dividing Caucasians into these sub-types isn't accepted by scientists these days, as it is a slippery slope towards eugenics. So there are some right wing websites that have similar discussions about racial types.

^^ Further to the discussion above, I recently came across a photograph of Agnetha in the unlikely context of a native American Indian historian's web page. The author, Richard Thornton, was advancing the theory that there is a similarity between American Indians and the Sami (Lapps) of Northern Sweden. In support of his argument, he included Agnetha because she 'has the typical facial features of a Creek Indian woman in northern Georgia'! She is slide 3 in this sequence: www.examiner.com/slideshow/teepees-sweden-and-north-america-plus-beautiful-agnetha-faltskog#slide=1There is a link underneath the slideshow to a related article 'Teepees with rooms and a view' in which he writes: When this author was in Lappland, local Sami often came up to him speaking Sami, because he looked to them like a tall, well-tanned Sami. What appears to be “American Indian features” can also be sometimes seen in fair-skinned, blond haired Swedes. For example, ABBA superstar Agnetha Faltskog, in her youth was quite similar in appearance to contemporary superstar, Carrie Underwood, in her youth. Carrie is a legally a Native American. She is a citizen of the Muscogee-Creek NationLater in the article Thornton claims that he met Agnetha 'after a performance near Malmo, Sweden (pre-ABBA)' and that they discussed their physical similarities. On a different web page he writes that Agnetha 'told me then that she had always been aware that she looked different than most Swedes, but no one in her family knew where the Asiatic features came from'. The author does appear to have worked in Landskrona during the period, and in an Agnetha YouTube comment he gives apparently credible details about seeing her perform in JCS and at a later gig at Lund University. However, it may seem a little convenient that he personally met Agnetha and that she corroborated his later ethnic theories. I wonder if Swedish ABBAchatters like @jensj2 have any views on this? Do Swedes with Sami ancestry look in any way different or distinctive, to other Swedes?

I've often wondered if Agnetha has Sami ancestry. Her eyes and nose do seem to have that shape. Shoshin, if you google Sami people you can see images and you can see some facial features in common with Agnetha.

Indeed, Agnetha's facial features remind of some Asians and indigenous people from north Europe or north America. And like simonjester I've also seen a picture of a girl, perhaps also from Lapland or north Russia that looked a bit like Agnetha. But maybe that's all just a coincidence, who knows.

She is a citizen of the Muscogee-Creek Nation Interesting. I didn't know Carrie Underwood is Native American. Well, the quote above rather looks like I said this, but I was actually quoting this Richard Thornton guy. I think it's an exaggeration to say the least. She was born in Muskogee and may have some native ancestry (who doesn't?). Her sister is named Shanna, which sounds kind of native american (is it?). But the claim that she is a tribal member has been removed from her wiki entry and she briefly mentions this in an interview as if it is inaccurate: "Q. Is it true you have Scottish heritage? A. That's on my Wikipedia and I don't know why. Someone keeps putting it up there. According to that page I'm also a member of a Native American tribe". www.theguardian.com/music/2013/mar/14/carrie-underwood-private-jet-american-idolDoes she look anything like Agnetha anyway? What do we reckon?
