I think a third Mamma Mia would be a mistake. Although there are about a dozen more great songs they are not suitable for film.. I let the music speak, Eagle, the Visitors, Soldiers, the Piper etc . Remaining songs still unused apart from SNC would be unfamiliar to most of the viewing public. Think best to leave at two and quit whilst ahead. Unless of course there was an album of new material as it’s Soundtrack. But where could the story go and would the cast be available?

Managed to eventually see Here we go again. Although enjoyable I did feel that it lacked something compared to the first film. The sound quality did not seem as sharp and it could have benefitted from a few more uptempo songs at the start....As good as new and Summernight city. Even Dancing Queen did not seem as vibrant. Highlights were Cher, Fernando, Super Trouper and My love my life. Think it would have been better to keep Donna alive. There could have been a lot of funny dialogue between Ruby and Donna and maybe even a duet.

I'm rather baffled by the 'Fate' of the DVD of the 2nd Film. The 1st Film came out on DVD in November 2008. In the UK it sold over 1.6 Million copies on Day 1 and over 3 Million by the end of Week 1.
However, the 2nd DVD was supposed to come out on Monday 26th November and The Official Charts Company has not mentioned its Sales at all. As if it has totally flopped in the UK. But, how can this be, when it is the UK's 14th biggest Film ever and the 2nd biggest UK Film of the Year? Surely, it would be a huge success on DVD?
I do know that it was released on Download a Week earlier and it was a UK No.2 Hit in the Film Download Chart. It has now dropped to No.7. But, there is no sign of the DVD in any of the UK Film Charts. As if it has not yet been released in a DVD Format. As I said earlier, it was supposed to be out on DVD on Monday 26th November.
I'm utterly baffled as to why it is not appearing in the UK's DVD & Film Charts.
On Amazon I have seen some Fans saying that they have it on DVD, but that the 'Colours' in it don't look right. That they have a 'Green' tint to them.

Do they not compile the dvd charts from Monday to Sunday? So the sales for W/c 26/11/18 would not show until today. S

Just checked the chart. It’s number one.

And not only is it number one, it’s number 4 as well! And Mamma Mia is number 50.

^^^^ not that I'm complaining, but as Colin said something appears to be strange, MM2 has been out a couple of weeks now, but for some reason it's a " new " entry now after being number 2 dropping to 7 .. what's happening.
What is the real difference between the video chart and the DVD chart !!! It's seems these days it's a chart for a charts, to many of them, as old as I may be bring back just the one over all charts , one singles one albums, as in the singles only one is relevant anyhow..
All UK of course....

Gary -- It was only a matter of time before 'The Mamma Mia! idea' was used in a Film for another Act. I'm only surprised that it took so long. However, Prince's Songs are not a 'bright' as ABBA's, so I'm sure that 'his' Film won't be as fun to watch. They may use more proper singers in it, though...
If I had the cash, I'd make a huge Fantasy Film with ABBA's Songs in it - their actual recordings. It would either be a Cartoon or a Live Action Film with cute CGI characters. I'd also make one with all of my favourite 1960's Hits in it. Plus one with 1970's Hits. Sort of 'Multi Artist' 'Mamma Mia!' Projects - rather than focusing on one Act. They'd be fantastic fun, for all who go to see them.
1)... 'Mamma Mia! - Here We Go Again' has entered at No.1 in the various Film, Blu-Ray and DVD Charts, that The OCC compile, in the UK. There are about 4 such Film Charts! One with just DVD Sales, one with just Blu-Ray, one with both, and one with both + Downloads! Anyhow, the 2nd 'Mamma Mia!' Film is in the No.1 spot in them all.
2)... It is a New Entry in 3 of the Film Charts, but up from No.7 to No.1 in the Chart that has Downloads too. It was released as a Download 3 Weeks ago, and did this - No.2 - No.7 - before Week 3 saw the DVD & Blu-Ray version add its Sales to it - hence the No.7 to No.1 rise...
3)... Unlike in 2008 The OCC have not revealed how many it sold to be No.1! In November 2008, they told us that it had sold over 1,600,000 on Day 1 and almost 3,200,000 in Week 1. This time, there are no figures given at all. They merely say that Week 1 saw the Film 2 DVD outsell the rest of the Top 10 combined. So, it has sold a lot, but we are not to know how many. It is obvious that its 1st Week Sales are no-where near those of the 1st Film, or we would have had The OCC getting excited over its Sales...
4)... Universal released 2 DVD's of Film 2. You can either buy it on its own, or you can buy it as a Double CD - with the 1st 'Mamma Mia!' Film added to the Package. The Double CD is also a success - entering at No.3, No.4, or No.5 - depending on which Film Chart you are looking at. Hence why 'Mamma Mia! 2' has 2 entries in the Top 5, of the 4 UK Film Charts...

The idea occurred to me back when I saw the movie Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, in which there were actual singers/musicians, such as the BeeGees.

The UK DVD of the 1st 'Mamma Mia!' Film sold almost 1,670,000 on Day 1 in 2008 and almost 3.2 Million in its 1st Week.
The 2nd Film has sold 1,300,000 in 7 Weeks. That was enough to be the UK's 2nd biggest DVD of 2018. it was beaten by 'The Greatest Showman', which sold 2,690,000. That took 33 Weeks to reach that Total. Neither come close to the 2008 UK Sales of the 1st 'Mamma Mia!' Film, which sold over 5,500,000, by the end of 2008. It is still the UK's biggest ever DVD.
Only Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' could outsell it, when that is available on DVD...(The Queen Film is much bigger than either 'Mamma Mia!' Film. It has now taken well over $700 Million at the Global Box Office. To just over $609 Million for 'Mamma Mia! 1' and just under $400 Million for 'Mamma Mia! 2'.

It will be interesting to see how well the DVD of Bohemian Rhapsody will do... The movie is massive here (Czech Republic) - every projection is sold out immediately, cinemas add more and more to their schedules and still it's almost impossible to buy the tickets. I haven't managed to see it until last week. I would never guess that Queen are so popular.

Doubt that any DVD will exceed the success of Mamma Mia in the Uk. The Queen Greatest hits Volume 1 was a result of vinyl sales from the eighties and then cd sales thereafter....most people replacing the vinyl with cd. Abba gold only existed from the nineties. if you stripped Queen Greatest Hits of the vinyl sales from the eighties it would no doubt be closer to 5 million or maybe less. Or to put it another way ... had Abba Gold existedin the early 80s in vinyl you could probably add another million on to its existing total of 53000000. Love Queen but I can’t see the movie outstripping Mamma Mia in the Uk. Mamma Mia is a feel good comedy , the Queen movie is not. It’s more a rockumentary.
