Did you know that the letter 'B' does not feature anywhere in the nineteen song titles of the original 'Gold' album? In fact, if you check through the groups entire recordings, the letter only appears sporadically. In an interview Benny has said he and Bjorn may have been subconsciously avoiding their own name initials.

That looks an interesting programme and concept. A well known artist and author who is missing something basic in life, real friends. So he sets out to meet six other creative people in order to form bonds. Frida is said to have been very reluctant at first to get involved with the programme but they struck up a rapport through e-mails. Wonder if that clip is from her Majorca home? Lars Lerin doesn't give away who he did strike up a friendship with but says this :
Anni-Frid "Frida" Lyngstad, musician: "An incredibly humble, caring and cordial person."

The Dick Cavett meets ABBA show weeks after they announced their separation. During the mini concert performance it was noticeable the tension at times and non interaction between the girls and B & B. Agnetha and Frida stay close together barely looking at the guys. But after Agnetha starts singing 'Thank You For The Music' the camera pans back and Frida is standing very close to Benny. They even exchange a brief smile at 1 minute into the video here. (Sorry, can't screen shot). She then changes position very slightly resting her hand on the piano.

In the week before Frida's landmark birthday, today marks the 40th anniversary of the release of a lot of fans favourite solo album of hers. Favourite song? 'Ett Liv I Solen' for me followed by the original 'Fernando' and 'Liv Pa Mars'.

From other pictures, I think it's either Benny or Bjorn Skiffs. This was from the surprise rehearsal concert where they showed up on Skiffs show in Landskrona. The t-shirt Rutger is wearing?........'Who The f*** Is Looking At My B-ass?' Hmmmm?
Maybe not.

Great pictures. Those particular ones were taken in the Pildammsparken in Malmo. The funny grass mounds are still there behind the open air theatre. Bjorn had previously been strutting his stuff there a few years before.

Yes, very pleased. Went for the Limited Edition. It arrived a day before the official release date which was a pleasant surprise. The making of the 'Something's Going On' documentary and the promo videos look like they've been freshened up colour and sharpness wise. The 7" vinyl is fine too. One minor quibble is I think they could have had a booklet with more pages in it, the box being certainly deep enough to have fitted a little more in. The two interviews are new to me and don't think they're on Youtube. Still trying to see if there are any discernible sound differences between the new CD and the 2005 issue. The art card also has a genuine signature. Two thousand signings then. That's some effort.

As a charm offensive, it's easy to see how they bowled the Aussies over. In fact 'charm offensive' seems a bit cynical really. I think they lived up to how they were imagined to be by just being themselves.

^^^^ That second one down is one for shoshin's inspired threads. Bjorn has his arm around Agnetha with his hand on her shoulder and her hand is reaching up to touch his.

^^^^^ I think that picture comes from the January 1968 TV show, 'Studio 8'. (Same dress and hair.) It's a real pity that the programme still seems lost in the archives or gone forever. If only all concerned knew what lay in wait. Agnetha's first TV appearance and the day the two girls first met too.

It might be a little bit of a blooper on both sides. I think back in those days there were different systems for changing camera views and I guess too that multiple views, especially front and back of such performances were still quite novel. Depending on the country and/or network, camera's often had lights on them to signify they were the ones that were filming at that moment. When the light went off, the performer would know it was time to face another way. Other TV studios would have a director/technician who would point to another camera at the right moment. Bjorn and Frida turn together (not sure if one is following the others lead there) so there must have been some sort of signal. It does though look like a small howler caused by the signalling because you're right, shoshin. The other camera shouldn't really have been caught in shot when they switched.
It's all quite endearing really seeing their occasional choreography mishaps and struggles with the imaginative minds of TV show directors. That 'Studio 2' one was particularly challenging what with Frida seemingly flummoxed for most of 'Fernando' with what camera was actually on. Then they're asked to do the second performance of the song while climbing a steep set of steps covered in slippery plastic and no handrail..in stiletto's.
No wonder they lost the plot at times.
