I found this, which refers to one new song, but later refers to "one of the two new songs".

ABBA are one of the 'All Time' biggest Groups in the entire World. I find it very sad that Bjorn allows himself to be treated poorly, just so he can get a TV plug in for 'Mamma Mia! - The Party'. He seems to think that the 'Project' is hugely important, when it is just a spin-off from the rather mediocre Films.
The example - of Bjorn being disrespected - was on Thursday Morning's 'Good Morning Britain'. The Program lasts for 2.5 Hours. They allowed Bjorn about 3 Minutes for an 'Interview', at the very end of the 'Show'. Just before the Interview, we saw him standing around - waiting to be asked to sit down for the Interview. He was treated like 'Mr. Nobody' - and he allowed it to happen, as he is so keen to get attention for 'Mamma Mia! - The Party', and its 02 opening in September.
In fact, the tickets are very expensive and it is just another way to exploit ABBA's Music in ways that many people see as a joke, as well as making it look like ABBA Songs are never, ever to be taken seriously. They are all just 'throw-a-way', 'camp', 'fun'.
It is hilarious that Bjorn and Benny worry whether New ABBA Songs will 'tarnish' ABBA's Legacy, when they spend so much time allowing ABBA Songs to be ridiculed and ill used in exploitative nonsense such as the 'Mamma Mia!' Films and 'Mamma Mia! - The Party'. I doubt if any New ABBA Songs can cause as much harm to ABBA, as the silly focus on 'Mamma Mia!'.
In his 3 Minute GMB Interview, Bjorn managed to say that we won't get any New ABBA Songs until November, now. It does not matter how 'near' November is. The truth is that ABBA recorded the Songs 2 Years ago - June 2017 - and we were 1st told about them 14 Months ago - April 2018. Since then, there have been 6 or 7 'delays' as to when we can have the Songs. None of this has made ABBA look good at all. They look like they no longer have a clue what they are doing.
The people at the UK Charts Company have told me, that ABBA have done themselves no favours, in how they have handled it all. They warned me - rightly - that it will turn ABBA into a laughing stock, if they keep making 'Dates', which are followed by nothing happening. ABBA have made a real mess of the entire New Songs PR exercise. Some Fans try to excuse it, but there is no excuse. ABBA have been very silly indeed...
1)... We were told that we could have 2 New Songs. Then Benny & Bjorn said 3. Then Bjorn said 4 - maybe more. Then Bjorn teased that we 'could' get an Album. Now, they seem to be back to: '2 New Songs only'. You really cannot mess with your Fans like this. There is a backlash. Some Fans think we are to get Zero. Others think that it is all a stupid waste of time and patience. I have - many times - wished that I'd never heard that ABBA had recorded again. I'm so tired of feeling that they are playing teasing games with us. It is Benny & Bjorn who do it. Agnetha and Frida, (wisely), never comment on the New Songs at all. It is not their fault that Benny & Bjorn are so inconsistent...
2)... We were told that December 2018 would see a 2 Hour - Global - 'ABBA TV Special' - with famous Acts singing ABBA Songs. America's NBC was making it, with the BBC handling Global Marketing. We were told that the 'Show' would reveal The ABBATars 'singing' 'I Still Have Faith In You'. Then the December 2018 TV Special was 'delayed'. Now, no-one knows if has been cancelled forever, or delayed until late in 2019. Maybe December this Year. Or maybe, it will never be made...
3)... Contrary to some ABBA Fans beliefs, The ABBAtars have not now been 'cancelled'. Bjorn said - GMB - that they are not Holograms. He was telling the Hosts what The ABBAtars are. He said, 'They are Digital Copies of ourselves - not Holograms'. So, he was not saying that The ABBAtars plans have been cancelled. He was clarifying that it is all going ahead, but they are not Holograms. I watched and listened very carefully to what he said...
4)... So - at present - ABBA still want The ABBAtars 'Tour' to happen. Or, it may be that they are just 'performing' at one Venue, such as when Cher or Celine Dion perform many Shows at one place in Las Vegas etc. As The ABBAtars are not real, they could make many 'ABBA's from them and have them 'performing' in many Cities at once. However, I think that only 1 'Set' will be made, and it is just a matter of whether they will 'Tour', or which City ABBA will choose for them to be 'fixed' in, to perform at just one Venue...
5)... All I know is that, after all the teasing and delays, it will look like ABBA Fans are not really getting that much, at all, if we only get 2 New Songs. ABBA really could have recorded a 10 or 12 Track Album by now. That is 100% Fact...

That's all good, carefully argued stuff, and if, indeed, those are the facts, it's pretty devastating; and I admire your patience in setting it all out. But if the songs come out in November - as Benny and Bjorn probably think they must - and they are generally liked, all that you've just pointed out will be forgotten. I'm sure you're hoping that'll be the case, too!

Awww I really felt for Björn during that interview. Still, he's an old pro, he'll have seen and heard it all before.
I think we have to be careful not to attach any 'blame' or overthink this. We'll hear the songs when they're ready to let us and not before. It is rather frustrating but there's nothing we can do about it about from befriend the ABBAs and give them a telling off. It does seem like forever waiting and it would have been great if they'd been released already but by now we'd probably be over them and moaning about something else.

Just my opinion, but all these relentless, frequently self-contradictory babblings from the ABBA camp seem like so much white noise. A personal list:
1) Things I have absolutely no interest in:
- Other people singing ABBA songs - 'Mamma Mia: The Party' - More 'Mamma Mia' movies - 'Mamma Mia 2' (I wish it hadn't happened, really) - An 'ABBAtars' event of any kind
2) Things I'm reasonably interested in:
- New ABBA songs, sung by ABBA (though I'm certainly managing my expectations in terms of both timing of release and quality of product)
3) Things I'm still very interested in:
- Listening to ABBA's existing albums - Selectively watching classic performances/videos etc. - Swapping views and opinions with other ABBA fans.

I agree, too, with one adjunct. I don't mind the odd cover if it's something like SOS by Portishead. I won't buy it, and probably never listen to it again but I can appreciate the effort. Especially when it's so completely different to the original. My 'problem' is everything surrounding Mamma Mia! Enough already. It's been done to death.

I'm so tired of feeling that they are playing teasing games with us. It is Benny & Bjorn who do it. Agnetha and Frida, (wisely), never comment on the New Songs at all. It is not their fault that Benny & Bjorn are so inconsistent... However, I won't let A+F get away that easily. After all they agreed with the whole idea of using the songs for the tour-or-whatever-thing. One should believe that they would have bigger influence on B&B dealing with it in media. So the question is how much they still agree with this or not. But if the songs come out in November - as Benny and Bjorn probably think they must - and they are generally liked, all that you've just pointed out will be forgotten. I won't forget about several of these things though, especially because, as I tried to indicate earlier, not all of this behaviour is completely new. By now I'm just fed up with this. I also remind again that since 2014 nothing happened about original ABBA but 'collectors items' on vinyl, all low production costs items. I don't expect anything special each year, but there was nothing at all like for example the long overdue Dick Cavett show or something special for the tour anniversaries. Just MM where the big money is.

Part of me wants to try avoiding all Internet ABBA Threads until very late in 2019. To sort of 'Rest' from ABBA until something actually happens, regarding New Songs etc.
I actually feel very guilty about saying 'negative' things about these matters. I feel that if I avoid Posting, then I also avoid being critical about ABBA and their 'Plans'.
As regards the 'Waiting' and 'Delays', something occurred to me, the other day. ABBA recorded the 2 New Songs in June 2017. the Songs are 2 Years old to ABBA, even if 'The Fans' have yet to hear a note of them. Bjorn says we will 'get' at least 1 of them in November. That will be almost 2.5 Years since ABBA recorded them. Or a Quarter of a Decade! By November, ABBA may even be bored with the New Songs, and we have yet to hear them! It is a very odd situation...

I understand and share your feelings very much. I feel rather sad than guilty though. I won't bet on November btw, I think like in earlier interviews Björn said he "hopes" and we know what we got. And as you pointed out they apparently stick to releasing the songs one by one, so it might well be that the second "single" will be about 3 years old... Should I laugh or cry?

Im still betting on a Christmas 2019 release... it would get huge promotion...

Hi, Is there any truth that ABBA are in the process of recording " a brand new album of twelve tracks " rather than just the two songs? Let us not be greedy in anticipating this too strongly but it would be fantastic news for any ABBA fan. If it is just the two songs than I will accept that and look forward to hearing them.

There's no official confirmation of any such thing but the rumours are rife. Time will tell.
I honestly don't know why ABBA don't just record and release a new album. These days it really doesn't matter if they're not seen. Times have changed. The music is what's important (unless you're heavily reliant on some highly manufactured and cultivated image).

I do hope that ABBA record a New Album. It is their best way to have a gigantic Global impact, in the Charts of many Countries. Even those Fans who say that Charts 'don't matter' cannot deny that it must feel good to see ABBA in the Top 10 all over the World...
It is much harder with Singles. 'Old' Acts struggle to reach the Top 10, due to much lower Streaming than 'Modern' Acts. That's why Kylie Minogue, Westlife, Boyzone, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen have all failed to reach the Top 10 with recent Singles. But, all of their Albums can still get there...
OK, so perhaps ABBA are 'aiming' for the Christmas No.1 spot, if they release a November, (or December), Single. However, it will have to compete with the Millions upon Millions of Streams, that Old Christmas Hits get at Christmas. It causes many of them to get back as high as the Top 10 or Top 20 again. The sure way for ABBA to compete with it is for them to release a Christmas Themed Single. Then it will be added to Christmas Song Play Lists on iTunes, Apple and Spotify. Guaranteeing ABBA a massive Hit Single. I'm aware that some Fans don't want ABBA to do that, as it would be 'too calculated'. However, if they just release a Non-Christmas Single, the result may be that it is kept low in the Charts by a massive invasion of Christmas Songs...

I honestly think it's a no-brainer that ABBA should release a new album, especially after all this fuss and confusion. I do hope they have people around them to suggest this. I mean what is the actually point of releasing just two songs? Apart from anything else, it's a massive tease. Fans want to hear a fully-fledged album - a whole experience- not two stand-alone songs with no relationship to anything.
That's my view, anyway. That doesn't mean I'll be unhappy with whatever amount of songs they choose to release. Even just one is more than I'd ever dared hope for.

Benny has given a new interview to Aftonbladet where the two new songs are mentioned.
My Swedish isn't great, but it sound like he still wants to do a final mix on these.

Fans seem to be getting quite tetchy regarding the delay releasing the songs, which I do understand to some degree. It has been dragged out. I'm rather impatient myself and itching to hear the new songs but what can we do? They'll be released when they're ready and not before. It's frustrating, because life is so tenuous and if they really aren't going to be released until much later, as some reports suggest, then I do wonder if some of us, myself included, will even be around! Tomorrow isn't promised to any of us and we don't know what's around the corner.
I can't feel anger as such, it's their work and their prerogative to release them when they see fit but it seems like such a long time has already elapsed and still we are in the dark. Oh, well.
Perhaps it would have been better if we hadn't been told and a statement released only when an actual date had been set.

If rumours are to be believed.. we have about 16 weeks to that November release..
i certainly hope to be alive...lol
As Colin has pointed out many times, regarding UK singles and charts ( if that’s your thing) it’s going to be tough going to be a hit, Kylie has failed to get a top 100 with her latest, Madonna, also a very low 80s position.. The charts are really rubbish in one respect at the moment, even Ed Sheeran and I Don’t Care, falls foul of it, number one for 8 weeks, falls to number 2 then out of the top 100 because of the the 3 hits rule, now re enters at 3. So is it really representative of the charts, as that track must’ve sold more than other tracks but because of that 3 hit rule not allowed.. something needs to change..
I still hope more than anything , that the potential publicity will propel the track to the top end of the charts, and still think it will sound in the vein of Story Of A Heart.. with added panache of the girls.. but all speculation, we wait counting weeks..

I'm not really bothered about where it gets in the charts. I don't think it matters, ultimately. It will still be a thrill amongst fans and there'll be a buzz in the media and lots of talk about it. It won't 'flop', as there are different barometers of what success means these days. Back in the day ABBA expected to get to number 1 and if they didn't that was deemed as a failure somewhat. It's not the same now.I doubt very much if young people give a toss where the music they buy/download charts, they're just enjoying the music, which is how it should be. Of course it would be absolutely great if ABBA hit the top spot, an added bonus, the cherry on top, but it's not the end of the world if they don't. Where music ends up chart-position-wise, is interesting up to a point but it's the music that's important. Quality, not quantity, as the old adage goes.

I guess it doesn’t really matter, it’s a would be nice... The only negative, would be the history books..you could see..
”ABBA , we wait 35 years plus for them to return and to flop and fail to make the top 40” or so many similar remarks.. so whether we like it or not, the history books will have the final say on their releases... it would so much better to read “ABBA back where they belong..number 1”
I agree it’s all about loving the music, and if that was the true feeling then why do we still have charts, alas it’s still a measure of success or not, old acts or new acts the goal is to still have a chart hit...
at least it keeps the conversation going depending which which side of the fence you are

We have the charts simply as a form of documentation. If you enjoy something, who the hell cares? Seriously. It makes absolutely no difference to my enjoyment of a song where its chart placing is. Otherwise I'd be hopping mad that many of my favourite songs never made the top whatever. It's not important. It's fun and interesting up to a point but it's not the be and end all.

According to an interview by Benny published in Aftonbladet on Friday, the 2 new songs still need some more mixing. The avatar project will be his full focus following the BAO tour (and, I guess, following a summer holiday).
The 2 new songs might be released when the avatar tour tickets go on sale, but he thinks the tour will be in 2021 - 'if it happens'.....he says there are certain things he can't talk about, so we can only speculate as to what that means!

Oh don’t we all love and want another delay.. 2021... will that mean now no new tracks as the ABBA avatars were meant to-front the new releases, or so we are supposed to believe...
Even my optimism is beginning to wane if there is a further delay past November....

Some Fans - not I - already think that the endless 'delays' and 'mixing' means that:
1)... The 2 New Songs must be deeply 'flawed', to need so much added work done them. But ABBA put a lot of work into 'Summer Night City', and that still got released...
2)... Benny and Bjorn have lost all confidence in the New Songs and are - eventually - going to tell us why they will never be released. They are just waiting for the right moment to tell us.
I think that the New Songs will be released, but the 'delays' are making me very nervous as to their quality.
I realised, many Months ago, that some Fans are going to criticise the New Songs, no matter how good they are. They have just decided to be negative because they are angry about the waiting for them to be released.
Most Fans will be fair to ABBA and judge each Song on merit, without letting negative emotions getting in the way...
I no longer think about The ABBAtars 'Project', anyhow. I don't think it will ever happen. It seems to be an idea that just never quite took off...We'll see...

I've used Google Translate, to show what Benny said about the New Songs and The ABBAtars, in last Friday's Aftonbladet Interview, with Jens Peterson. (Friday 2nd August).
Note -- When Benny says, 'If it gets lost', (referring to The ABBAtars Project), he obviously means 'If it goes ahead'...When he says 'I can't tell you that much', he means 'too much'.
The Relevant Parts of The Interview:
Now an upcoming tour is being prepared. There are digital copies that will look like Agneta, Frida, Björn and Benny did in 1979.
The Avatar project takes almost all the time. If it gets lost, it will premiere in 2021, says Benny Andersson.
What jobs are waiting after the summer holidays?
"The Avatar Project. It takes almost all the time now. There are so many people involved and a lot to come together".
The news of an ABBA tour, where digital versions of you four are touring with live musicians on stage, came in October 2016. Then the premiere was scheduled for this year.
What is the plan now?
"If it gets lost, it will sometime be 2021. The conditions have changed. I can't tell you that much".
You have recorded two new ABBA songs. Do you wait to release them until then?
"Well. In some way, we should make it come together. We may release the songs when we know the premiere date for the avatar tour and can sell tickets. We haven't decided. The new songs are pretty good".
You have to be passionate about publishing "Don't Shut Me Down" and "I Still Have Faith In You". Are the songs completely finished?
"No, they're not mixed. We have made some rough mixes but it is not so crazy to have it almost ready. Then you hear details that can be improved in the final mix. But everything is recorded, that's it".
What's next for the avatars?
"We have to make a setlist, which songs will be included in the concerts. So they can be recorded with our double occupants. How long should the songs be? Are they the same versions, or any acoustic? It's a pretty fun job. I've been doing recycling for a long time now".

2021?! Omg which end of it? Nearer 2022? That's bonkers. If the songs aren't to be released until nearer the avatar tour then we're in for a long wait.
I really don't know what to think now.

Of course, if or when the new songs turn up, fans will no doubt have different views as to their quality, as they do with, say, TDBYC. If they don't turn up till the end of 2021, I'm sure a lot of fans will lose all interest in any advertised future ABBA projects, if they haven't already.
