Janne is not confirming that there is no new ABBA album.
He is merely saying that he did not, by the choice of his words, inadvertently intend to confirm an entire album was coming. I personally thought he meant 'new tracks' when he spoke and just chose the wrong word.
He doesn't feature on any new tracks as a musician, I gather.
He may now have been made aware that there will be a set process for revealing the number of forthcoming tracks.
I don't think we should read too much into this episode.

Here are Benny and Bjorn arriving in London, for Today's ABBA 'Announcement. No sign of Agnetha and Frida - yet. It does not mean that all 4 of ABBA won't be there. (It was in Today's On-Line 'The Sun'. It should be in the Print version, as well). Link -- The 'The Sun' Article: link Incidentally, with 6 Million Certified USA Sales, and over 8 Million real Sales, 'ABBA Gold', shows ABBA to be more popular, in the USA, than ever before. It has now been in the US Top 200, for over 6 Months, this Year. With over 180 Weeks, in Total. As such, a New ABBA Album, should be their 1st USA Top 10 Album. Beating the No.14 Peak of 'The Album'. (If we get an Album!).

I really hope they don’t f**k it up (as RuPaul would say on Drag Race). There are several ways they could do just that: 3. Announcing just five new songs. Sorry, but this would still be a bit disappointing. The only way they can’t f**k it up at all now is by announcing a full album of new songs. We’re all hoping for that and, though completely irrational, it would be harder to accept less at this stage. Even if 3) was announced along with the tour, I’d be left thinking, “is that it??”
Seems to me you now need to change your poll response to YES (I would be very disappointed if they didn't release a full album), right?

How are we all feeling today? Nervous? I am - it's a bit like waiting for an exam or a job interview (even though I'll have to do nothing but watch).
It occurred to me this morning that they may announce fewer songs than actually exist. When they only had two songs and were talking about a third, I recall Benny saying that if they release two songs in advance, a third song would be needed as something new for when the ABBAtars show is launched. So, they may keep a song up their sleeves until the show premier.

its all very cliched, but its going to be a long day... If I'm honest I'm not expecting to much, a bit of Abbatars stuff and ending with the one/2 tracks... I feel if all the rumours are true/ or mainly accurate, and its a Christmas release of an Album , its a 3 month drip feed . A lot depends on how long tonights revelations will be, again i think as it starts at 5.45 (UK time) it will be no longer than 15 minutes, if that, of course I hope Im wrong, but from a marketing point of view , why reveal everything now...keep the public excited....
I think I'm right but.. if the two tracks are released at midnight they wont make this weeks chart and will be potentially in next weeks...

as an aside, Gold is doing well in the UK Album Charts on the rebound of all the " NEWS" ( I'm guessing ).. Has potential to go top 10, as latest at 11....year to dates highest position, and closing in on 100,000 sales...

I think the steam lasts something like an hour and 30 minutes. It's seemingly tied into an extended one show, so they can show the video at 1930. There have been reports the songs will be live to order at 1800, but not official or confirmed.

I have a feeling I'll either be absolutely ecstatic, or terribly, terribly disappointed, with no chance of simply feeling "ok" about it.
I don't mind if the news is we have to wait a few more months for an album, as long as they announce there IS one.

Graham -- Yes, if the (1st), 2, (or 1!), New ABBA Songs, are Released at Midnight, that is too late for this Week's Chart - W/E Thursday 9th September. The UK Charts Sales Week goes from Friday to Thursday. So, today is the Weekly Sales final Day. The ABBA Song(s), will qualify for next Week's Chart - W/E 16th September. All UK Charts are given the Date of the following Thursday, even though they are first revealed, the previous Friday - at 5.45pm. (However, there are several Mid Week Charts, that show how the Singles Chart and Albums Chart are progressing. The first of which is the Top 20 Singles, at 7pm on a Sunday. That is for Sales on Friday and Saturday. So, any New ABBA Songs, should be in that 7pm Sunday Top 20. It is called the 'First Look' Chart. - You can see it on The Official Charts Site).
Graham -- If any New ABBA Songs are Released today, they would qualify for tomorrow's Weekly UK Singles Chart. As long as they, (it), sell enough today. All Formats are added together. If an ABBA Song was Released on CD, Vinyl, Cassette, Downloads, and Streaming, all of those Sales would be combined, for a Chart place. It is not 'cheating', it is how all Hit Singles are calculated now. Ed Sheeran's 'Bad Habits' looks like gaining a 10th UK No.1 Week - helped by the recent Release of a Vinyl version.

Thanks Colin, had a feeling that was the case. It would be ironic if they knocked Ed Sheeran off the number one position in the UK possibly the biggest artist in the world at the moment..
All ifs buts and maybes...

OMG, that looks nothing like ABBA. It looks like an ABBA as they might be now. I thought the idea of this ABBAtars show was to re-create an ABBA concert as it was in 1979.

Maybe it will appeal to modern audiences but the nostalgia factor certainly isn't there. I wonder whether they will also bring the mixes of the songs 'up-to-date'.

This has just been added to the 'Daily Mail' On-Line Site: link As to how ABBA look in the Photo. I can't make my mind up, if I like it, or not. It reminds me of the sort of 'Modern' Image, that Steps like to show, on Stage. We have to be fair to ABBA. A lot of us will not like, or be 'unsure', about what happens via The ABBAtars. A lot of us will love it all. We are all different, and we can't expect everything that ABBA do, to be to all of our tastes. The same with the New Music. ABBA will just do what they think is their best. It is 'The 'Goldilocks Test'. Some of us will think it is: 'Too Cold', some will say: 'Too Hot', and some will agree with ABBA, and say it is, 'Just right!'. Be it The ABBAtars, or the New Music...

My fervent hope is that they've managed to stop that over-fawning, crazed-looking, hyper ABBA fan Pete Waterman from getting anywhere near a microphone or camera for this.

I didn’t recognise Björn at first. How ABBA might look now if they were young. They even have former partners facing them.

It took me ages to recognise any of them, to be honest. I thought the image was just a mock-up at first. Then I recognised Frida and the rest sort of fell into place. Playing with the styling like this could be risky if it weren't for the fact they'll probably be shown alongside the genuine people later. The excitement across social media is great fun!

Aniara is a bleak story, ends in ashes. They could have chosen a better name for the company. ;-)

I think they look amazing & quite 'themselves'. The slick controlled hair is probably easier to compute/project than free flowing hair.

Now Benny says no new album. I’m afraid I will be disappointed by anything less than an album. They’ve had four years!

I think we are about to witness the future of pop music. Through the aid of computers, musicians in their 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond can look and sound like they did in their prime, and this will be the new normal. I would not be surprised to see Britney Spears gyrating with a snake on stage, virtually, in 25 years. On the one hand, I am thrilled by the prospect of new ABBA music. On the other... I find all of this digitization to be dystopian - like something from a bad sci fi novel. That image of the ABBAtars on the billboard really struck home how weird all of this really is.

As I said yesterday, it might be strange to us if these figures move their bodies in ways we weren't used to seeing ABBA moving. Agnetha and Frida were not slick and sophisticated dancers, and this non-professional aspect of their choreography was a huge part of their charm.

I've been away from my post !!!
On my return, the first thing i said was don't they look like Steps !! Put in perspective, they are a very popular brand so do well. Abba has had to evolve or would've anyway, so new styles are going to be alien to us and as Colin says its Goldilocks, some will some wont like what they are seeing. I'll hold reservation for now as we've only seen one image and nothing else.. so lets give it a chance and see what happens tonight. If an Album isnt on the cards, Im afraid it WILL be a major disappointment for many, me included, but i remain hopeful all will be ok.....
