Thematically, Dont Shut Me Down is a new version of As Good As New! Love it.
Now look at me, here I am again... As Good as New (decoded, reloaded!)
My partner hears If It Wasn’t For The Nights rather than As Good As New, but still same album. It’s definitely very ABBA-sounding though.

Has anyone been able to buy anything from the ABBA Voyage site yet? It’s always clogging up. Not yet. And some items are only available in the UK. I hope it will be possible to order them elsewhere (hopefully not just eBay and Discogs).
After many tries, I was finally able to successfully order the CD, Vinyl, and Box Set. I cannot wait for November 5th!!
On another note, what are everyone's thoughts on the ABBA avatar's outfits? In my opinion they don't look like outfits that ABBA would have worn, but I'm trying to get used to them haha.

Just a notion was to be released on the album reissue Voulez vous. For some reason, in the end, this, from my point of view, quality song was not added.

There's a line in it that reminds me very much of Hemma from Kristina and, for some odd reason, the bass synth reminds me a bit of It's So Nice To Be Rich! The "third voice" in the chorus is just magical!

I have to say, my heart sank very slightly when I saw Just A Notion in the tracklisting. In 2010 there were no plans to get back together, so Just A Notion was left off the Voulez-Vous deluxe for another reason. I hope its inclusion on Voyage isn’t just as filler and to make up the numbers. And Bumblebee can’t be Free As A Bumblebee reworked, otherwise the words “barrel” and “scraping” will come to mind.

The way you have to look at it is by imagining ABBA stepped into the TARDIS circa 1979 and emerged in 2021. Once they arrived, they gave free reign to the stylists to design how they should look now. (I say 1979, but Frida looks more late 1976/early 1977)

I feel bad that I haven't been back here since the announcement. It's been such a frantic evening. I watched the announcement show and was getting a bit irritated with all the hopping around the world to ask people when they first became an ABBA fan. But when ISHFIY started and I heard Frida's voice, I confess that I become quite tearful, and then again when they announced that there would be a new album. I'm not sure which I prefer between ISHFIY and DSMD, but I'll have to listen to them properly when I'm calmer.
For much of the evening, I've been battling with the ABBA Voyage store website. I managed to order the vinyl bundle while B&B were still talking and the website was quiet. But then I went back to the site and found more things there. I've been desperately trying to order the limited edition singles but the thing kept crashing - after much perseverance, I finally succeeded. That website must have been seeing hell of a lot of traffic. HMV have their own exclusive vinyl copy in yellow vinyl, which is nice. Amazon UK don't seem to be showing much of ABBA Voyage at the moment, but that will change.
I'm a bit worried about the release date of 5th November, one week after Ed Sheeran's album, but since ABBA are putting their album out in multiple formats (including cassette) with multiple covers, I think that might help them.

Do you think that I Still Have Faith In You and Don’t Shut Me Down will chart by tomorrow, in the short space of time?

It’s so bloody annoying that the two picture discs have sold out immediately. Ugh. They will probably go onto eBay for ridiculous prices like the Summer Night City RSD release did. If you didn’t know, Amazon is releasing Voyage on Orange Vinyl. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09DYX3WQJ?tag=sdepcw-21&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1And indie stores are releasing Voyage on blue vinyl. You might be lucky to find it in Vinyltap.

Do you think that I Still Have Faith In You and Don’t Shut Me Down will chart by tomorrow, in the short space of time? I’d say not, and I think they’ve wisely taken themselves out of the race by not releasing physical formats of the single and by releasing it at 6pm on Thursday when the cut-off for this week’s chart was less than 24 hours away. It may dent the charts a bit but unless we’re all sitting by Spotify having the song on a continuous stream, I don’t think they’re in too much danger of having a hit. It’s a relief really, this announcement was so much bigger than that. Singles charts aren’t worth a thought.

Great: they're finally releasing my favorite song. Just a notion. three years ago I wrote on the official ABBY website about unfinished songs released in 1992 on the CD Thank you for the music (Abba undeleted). I wrote that it would not be bad to finish some of these songs. I will release the song Just like that and I will be satisfied. Alternatively, a beautiful song I Know Him So Well -1984. The question is... will it be the Just A Notion we know? Isn't it a new song with the same title? If you zoom in on the lyric sheet in this photo on the website, you can see that the lyrics to Just A Notion appear to be the same as the one from Undeleted, with a time stamp of 3:29.

Correction to my previous post - the two singles are released physically. Each has a CD single (presumably one track) while I Still Have Faith In You also has a 7” vinyl release. Too much to hope for that Don’t Shut Me Down will be on the b-side?

My partner hears If It Wasn’t For The Nights rather than As Good As New, but still same album. It’s definitely very ABBA-sounding though. Oh, I completely agree! Musically there's quite a few very similar parts in it that you also hear in If It Wasn't For the Nights. The piano intro (of If It Wasn't For the Nights) appears in Don't Shut Me Down quite prominently a few times, and then they share the same basic beat, even some of the violin bits are very reminiscent of that 1978/9 song. He's absolutely right. It's almost If It Wasn't For the Nights' little sister - the new, improved version!
However, what I meant was that the theme of its lyrics, the story itself, is about starting over and renewal, the narrator is talking about some tantrums and fights but she returns this time promising to change, she wants to present "a new me", and just in that sense it's the same situation as the one in As Good As New.
Will the Voyage album be ABBA's re-vamping of Voulez Vous for the 2020s? I Still Have Faith in You might be its I Have A Dream, and then there's Just A Notion. I wonder if that "Dan" song will end up being "Burning My Bridges" rejigged?
So now they have three albums starting with the letter V (if you forget the THE in their last studio album). haha

This is a wonderful moment for me as an ABBA fan as I am 31 and never got the opportunity to experience them during their 1970-1983 heyday and to have a new album is wonderful I have been thinking of all the long time ABBA fans who have waited 38 years for this since the last single 'Thank You For The Music' was released in November 1983.
'I Still Have Faith In You' and 'Don't Shut Me Down' are beautiful songs and I am blown away at how Agnetha's voice doesn't sound any different to 2013 she really does look after her voice she can still get those high notes 'Voyage' will be an incredible album I am buying it on CD.
As this is the 9th album it would be nice to have a second disc with the 6 songs from the 1982 sessions as those songs were originally intended for the 9th album.

Also there’s supposedly a track called “Bumblebee” - hopefully not “Free As A Bumblebee”… Oh God, that'd be awful if it was. That demo also contained a very prominent part of I Know Him So Well/I Am an A, the "wasn't it good, wasn't he fine" part. Imagine that fragment appearing again.
Gosh! listen to me! I should be happy! What am I saying?? I AM HAPPY! haha I don't care if there are two or three songs I end up not adoring. The other songs will compensate!
This album is a great gift.

Whoever has done the Wikipedia page for the Voyage album has stated that Bumblebee is indeed Free As A Bumblebee. Hopefully no basis in fact. The relevant paragraph: Its track listing contains 10 songs, two of which, "Just a Notion" and "Bumblebee", were previously included as part of the demo medley "ABBA Undeleted" from the Thank You for the Music box set released in 1994.

Love the new songs. Wonder which one of the New songs is the Christmas song. Not sure that Abba would revisit the songs from 1978 to include on a new album. There would be no need to. Benny said himself he is constantly composing. Maybe the titles are just coincidental. Free as abumblebee was too basic to appear on an album. Sounded like a working title. Keep your eye on Dan title sounds like an uptempo humorous song. I still have faith sounds like it could be lifted from a musical.

This won’t interest many but I always look at these things…
Looking at the copyright lines on the artwork of the new releases, I’m assuming ABBA have set up a new company, 1221 AB, in order to maintain ownership of the copyright and master tapes for the new music. It’s still licensed to Polar Music International AB, but both the (P) and (C) dates show 1221 AB. I’m assuming 1221 is code for ABBA (A = 1, B = 2).
It does mean that Polar, and therefore Universal, will not have ownership of their new album and ABBA could, in theory, later take the licence back (not impossible - Kate Bush did it as most of her work was similarly licensed to EMI back in the day).

Bumble bee and Just a notion are in fact 2 songs from the 78/79 era, I guess B@B decided now was a good time to revisit them. Most likely however the songs are heavily reworked and completely re-recorded! I'm pretty sure Universal still has distribution rights for this new album, with ABBA possibly retaining a little more control over this title as opposed to the rest of their back catalogue.

Definitely re-recorded, otherwise they can hardly say that this a completely new album. I’d even go as far as to hope that (Free As A) Bumblebee now has Agnetha and/or Frida singing it, and not Björn. We’ll see. I am a bit disappointed that they’ve revisited two old songs though, and especially ones that are already out there in some form (even if as only part of Undeleted). It would suggest they still have no love for Just Like That though, otherwise why not throw that in as well? (I’ve not slept tonight - a mixture of excitement from this and having a cold).
