Hi, I am Violet. I have loved ABBA since I witnessed their victorious win back in 1974 at Brighton and I will never forget it. The UK gave them nil points at the time but it didn't deter ABBA becoming such a global success after Eurovision. I read somewhere online an Australian fan said ABBA were unique. There is quite nobody else like them. I agree.

Thanks, Tony HOMETIME. You might not realise it but I am not strictly new to ABBAchat. I'm Eddie who deleted his account/profile because I took exception to classic ABBA songs continually bashed by other forum members. We all like different ABBA songs I know. I was quite upset and distressed after I worked hard to compile my Top 40 favourite ABBA songs and really thought more forum members would have been at least more appreciative. I know Johnny, Tony, Graham and a few others commended my ranking even though it may not be to their taste. I fully understand that. I am not going to post that often as I am a little apprehensive some will rubbish my personal song choice and general comments and ideas I have. Yes I spat my dummy out yet again !

Hi @violet / Eddie, I must have missed your post the other day. It was only evilincarnate’s post above that alerted me to it. I had no idea that you were Violet until now! Welcome back again.

Now I know what it's like to be in an episode of Scooby Doo. It's funny, because I was reading your post about liking rankings etc. and I thought "I bet Violet and Eddie would get along like a house on fire" and IT WAS YOU ALL ALONG!! You must be a whizz at murder mystery games and who-dunnits, you master of disguise, you. Welcome back, Eddie. (In the circumstances, how would you prefer to be addressed? Eddie? Violet? I kinda like that you've invented a new persona. It's fun.)

Hi all
I’ve found it really hard to find somewhere to chat with fans, so I’m hoping this is the place! Looks like you lot are up for a good bit of discussion so I hope I can join in
I discovered ABBA in the late 90s when I was about 12, was besotted with them for a couple of years and then moved onto other “cooler” (as I probably thought then) music in my teens. Always had a soft spot for them though and recently have been really enjoying rediscovering them again as an adult in this strange but lovely new era of the band we find ourselves in!
All the best and hopefully chat to you soon

Hi All, I'm Richard from the UK, and have been an ABBA fan since Eurovision in 1974. Since joining last week I've been catching up on previous posts. I've seen Voyage twice (more to come hopefully), my favourite single is Angeleyes, and would love more ABBA releases, such as rarities and the 2 unreleased Voyage tracks. If vocals were ever laid down, would love the ABBA version of Funky Feet!

Thanks for the links, Alan. To be honest, I've always loved the tracks that B&B have criticised themselves over the years: Angeleyes as mentioned, SNC, Gimme x 3, JLT (but prefer the non-sax demos). Favourite album is Voulez Vous, followed by a tie between Super Trouper and Arrival.

Hi everyone, I'm Adrian from the UK. I've been an ABBA fan practically since birth, and remember my parents listening to ABBA cassettes in the car on long drives. I'm also starting my own ABBA podcast soon! Great to be here.

Hi adrianstirrup and welcome to the forum. Please feel free to post - I know forums generally have the reputation of having a “clique” and that everyone somehow knows each other personally but that honestly is not the case here (and that goes to any new member or “lurker”). None of us have ever met and know little about each other, other than from what they post on here.

High time to return to the forum after much too long away. Haven't been idle on the ABBA front, though. In tandem with a fellow ABBA fan and friend of long standing, have spent the last couple of years working on a very unofficial, very unauthoritative book about the band which finally came out a couple of weeks ago. It's called 'ABBA Unabashed: Fifty Years of Fandom'. (The Amazon link is WAY too long so I've tinyurl-ed it, in case you're interested: tinyurl.com/728d3wne) Good to be back!

Hello All! I'm new to ABBAChat, but not new to ABBA, having spent the last 50 years being a fan and the last 2 years immersed in a book about the Fab Swedish Four. My friend and co-writer of our new book, @thisboycries, encouraged me to join, and I'm ready to get sucked into the ABBA vortex...looking forward to the chat!

I go back to the 70s with ABBA too, though from a UK vantage-point. Do have a good rummage around all the forum's nooks and crannies - I'm sure you'll find loads to entice you. And don't be afraid to breathe new life into old threads that look like they've fallen fallow for months or even years. You'll always find people here who'll be only too glad to revisit them.

Hi all. I’m 20 from the UK. I’ve always loved ABBA’s music but only really became a "superfan" so to speak during lockdown. I also have a general interest in 70s and 80s music and collect records - do message me if you have a collection yourself, I’m always on the lookout for fellow collectors.

You'll find plenty to interest and amuse you here, I think - and some slightly odd stuff too, of course. So basically just another forum.

Other ABBA books and publications are available 😀
[Edit by Alan - the above comment referred to the previous post, which originally promoted the former member’s book. The post was then amended by them to delete all content, and later re-posted without mention of the book. I copied and pasted the content of the new post into the original one and deleted the new one. The former member could have deleted the original post entirely but didn’t do so - it appears that these actions have caused them to delete their profile.]

It’s disappointing to see that thisboycries appears to have deleted his profile along with some posts. The promotion of his book amused me, and I liked johnny’s post because it was a humorous, harmless comment. I didn’t think for a second that any offence was caused. Promotion of anyone’s own creative work is fine, even when it’s blatant, but doing so can invite criticism.

I'm surprised that Garry/thisboycriries has bailed out. Provided it wasn't every other post - which it wasn't (far from that) - if you can't occasionally mention your own book about ABBA on an ABBA forum, where can you?
I didn't find Johnny's comment other than inoffensively humorous.
