Details are emerging of Universal's proposal to transmit the 'Voyage' documentary on Thursday, 2nd September at 18.45hrs CET. Keep an eye out for more news..... Wow! I wonder what channel(s) will be used? It's a nice tactic: broadcast the show in the early evening and, as soon as midnight strikes, the song(s) will be available to download/stream.

I wonder what channel(s) will be used? It's a nice tactic: broadcast the show in the early evening and, as soon as midnight strikes, the song(s) will be available to download/stream. It's a similar tactic to that used by X-Factor - the winner is crowned and their single is available from midnight to download. I have a feeling the documentary will be broadcast via the ABBA Voyage website, as the timing (if to be believed) isn't good for broadcast on TV, with the early evening News on at around that time. And there is currently no evidence of it in the TV schedules (in the UK). I'm still not sure what ABBA Voyage is - is it the title of a launch documentary, the ABBAtars show or an album, or all three? It would be odd for the ABBAtars show to be called this, unless it was going to be a concert of songs in chronological order. If it's the title of an album (and it does sound like one, as ABBA have always gone for one-word or two-word titles), this suggests to me a compilation of the journey from "People Need Love" to the new songs. I wonder whether we are supposed to pronounce "Voyage" the English or French way. The French way would be nicer.

I wonder whether we are supposed to pronounce "Voyage" the English or French way. The French way would be nicer. When I first saw it on the website, I read it the French way, and consequently the song “Voyage, voyage” by Desireless (a hit in 1986) has been in my head ever since and I’ve been unable to shift it. 18:45 CET is actually 17:45 BST (or Western European Time), so it’s an even more odd time in the UK, Ireland and Portugal for a documentary to air.

Yes, that timing is awkward. If the show will be broadcast on the website, then maybe they mean it's available to stream from that time. That would make more sense in terms of global appeal. The timing could be planned to coincide with the end of a press conference or something....?

It’s all very exciting, I have a little trepidation as we get closer in that the new tracks are any good and not a disappointment, I’m sure they will be great, it’s not knowing what to expect.. just like Christmas 🎄..lol
I prefer the French “Voyage”, it’s not as if it isn’t for the first time... Voulez Vous As for timing wise, who’s going to miss it!! I’m sure none of us will, and shortly afterwards it will be on all News stations, social media, fan sites, papers, it will literally be everywhere...
The marketing machine is in overdrive already..
I like the planets logo or are they Halos It’s going to be a long week....

All wonderful news! With no real evidence to back up my feelings, but because of the five songs, I just have this conviction that there will be an album, after all, somehow ...

I've just received an e-mail from the ABBA Intermezzo Fan Club. The most interesting part:
"ABBA invites you to an historic event on September 2nd, 2021! An unforgettable evening awaits all fans when the group invites you to a unique event after four decades! It will be celebrated around the globe under the title 'ABBA Voyage' - from London to Tokyo, Sydney and Berlin!
For the exclusive ABBA event in Berlin, we have 4 x 2 tickets to give away in cooperation with Universal! Admission is at 5 p.m. and the event starts at 6 p.m. A very special ABBA evening awaits you at which the future of ABBA will be celebrated."
At the end there is a notice that no ABBA member will attend the event in person.
It seems the news will be revealed in a grand style...

Hey guys! This is my first post on here. I had been keeping an eye on this board for 3 years but I never created an account...Until today!
So ABBA Voyage... This is a childhood dream coming true... I'm just overexcited!!
I became an ABBA fan in 2002 when I was 12-13 years old... Dreamt for years about them coming back with new music, I remember I'd get all hopeful each time I heard rumours of them making a come back. Then, I came to terms wth the fact that it would never happen... And then 2018 came. And now this. This is just incredible! ABBA are coming to save 2021!!!

So, it looks like ABBA will do some kind of 'Big' Promotion, on Thursday 2nd September. Ending at around Mid Night - the start of Friday 3rd September - with the Release of at least 1 New Song. (It will be No.1 in several Countries iTunes Charts, but it is far, far harder, for 'Old' Acts to translate that into Weekly Singles Chart dominance. We will see if ABBA can achieve it). We could get an Entire New Album -- 'ABBA Voyage' - not long after. Or that may be the Title of yet another 'Hits' Album, with a few New Songs added to it. (As was done with 'The Singles', in 1982. But with more than just the 2 New Songs, that we got with that Album. (Hopefully). Or maybe 'only' The ABBAtars 'Show', will be called 'ABBA Voyage'. We will see. In the meantime, 'The Sun' has done its 2nd ABBA Article, in 2 Days. The Friday 27th August Article, says that The ABBAtars Venue will have 3000 Seats. That there will be 8 'Shows' a Week. (So, 1 Day, with 2 'Shows'. Probably Saturday's). That - eventually - the Building will be dismantled, and moved to Los Angeles, or Stockholm. As you can see, The Venue, looks like it is from 'Star Trek'! Today's, (Friday 27th August), Print Edition of 'The Sun', has a full Colour, Double Page ABBA Article, on Pages 16 and 17. I love that this is generating so much positivity.

The rumours are starting to pile up. This piece published by the New York Post seems to take fantasy to a new level: - An insider with the band’s label, Capitol Music Group, told The Post on Thursday that a special invite-only teaser event will be taking place the afternoon of Sept. 2 in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield, where “ABBA-themed festivities and announcements” will be made.
Given the enormous investment in the bespoke London venue, I reckon this is a lot of hooey. Here's the entire article.

Strange that they would be by invitation only - probably for the press and other influential people.

I can already see the official text "ABBA - Voyage", coupled with those four fiery gold rings, printed on complimentary black face-masks to be handed at the door for all attendees to wear at these functions next week.

The design is interesting. I saw eclipses first, and rings later. Obviously, there's one for each member of ABBA but I wonder if there is something more "profound" behind the design? Four decades where ABBA were eclipsed, maybe? The 80s being the darkest, the 90s getting a smidge brighter, then the 00s get a littler brighter again and the 10s brighter yet. Will the 20s be when "the sun comes back out"? I need to stop overthinking things, don't I?

We may not get a New Album. The BBC keeps saying 5 New Songs.
So, there could be another ABBA Compilation, called 'ABBA Voyage'. The 'Voyage' being a Chronological Track List, from 1972, (or 1973), to 2021. With the 2021 part being the 5 New Songs - added at the end of the Compilation.
I know that we'd rather have a New Album, but 5 New Songs is 5 more, than we thought we would ever get, after all of these Years.
So, 'ABBA Voyage' could be a 2021 version of 'The Singles', with 5 New Songs, rather than the 2 that we got on the 1982 Compilation.
Elsewhere, I've seen some Fans saying that the New Songs will 'ruin' ABBA's Legacy! This is without them hearing a Note of the New Music! Such Fans are very shallow and doom and gloom. It is sad really. They should enjoy the fact that ABBA have returned, rather than dismissing it all, as a mistake.
Some other Fans think that it is all a Hoax or Joke, and that ABBA are not returning at all! As if someone would go to all the trouble of setting up an ABBA Voyage Web Site, to play a Joke on ABBA Fans! It is very sad, that some Fans are so cynical and mistrusting.

I like that interpretation (i.e., your one ring for each decade since they quit). It really works for me and it would be nice if that was indeed the reason behind it.
I'm imagining a music video with the four rings slowly forming then transforming/morphing into human form, until the figures and features of each ABBA member become clearly recognisable as the song starts, and then bang!! they become fully formed replicas of A, B, B, and A, and they start singing and dancing.
Actually, ABBA were not very accomplished dancers, were they? They weren't exactly the grooviest and funkiest movers in pop music. So this makes me wonder, if their stand-ins are excellent, rivetting, truly amazing dancers à la Michael Jackson, would we fans be more than a bit dismayed, even disappointed? Would we be thinking "Agnetha and Frida never had moves like that! That's not like her!" etc.
I actually quite liked Agnetha and Frida's slightly stiff, sometimes guarded or not extremely coordinated movements in their concert footage. It made them human and really quite endearing, especially when they tried hard to be really rocky and to "whip up a storm" on stage in songs like "Hole in Your Soul" and "Summer Night City". It was a bit like watching two conservative, very nice ladies finally deciding to break loose and really get into it on a dancefloor near the end of a huge party.

Agreed. The BBC wouldn’t be in-the-know, and as they’re in the business of reporting facts, they wouldn’t dare try to suggest there was definitely a full album until it was confirmed.

There's a trailer online now. Snippets of IIWFTN, SOS, Fernando and, most prominently, TWOFD over what sounds to me like the instrumental passage of Our Last Summer with the guitar solo removed (the bit that was reused for Anthem).

You obviously have a better musical ear than me HOMETIME, being a musician yourself, but I've convinced myself that I'm hearing something new in there. Bizarre that they've included IFIWFTN - one of their best songs, in my opinion, but not one of their most well-known.

One other thing to bear in mind is that, if there were to be a new ABBA album coming, the 'singles' released (especially the first one or two) might be given away as 'free' downloads if the album is pre-ordered - for example on sites such as Amazon. That was certainly the case for Agnetha's 'A' album. Such downloads won't qualify for a Singles chart placing anywhere as far as I am aware, but the strategy could maximise high placings in the Albums charts around the world. I'm guessing that physical copies of anything might come later...but I guess we'll find out soon enough now!

Wouldn't the impact on the charts be much bigger if all the formats were released simultaneously? But maybe I just don't understand the way charts work. As for the trailer... it looks very good, be it fan-made or not.

Bizarre that they've included IFIWFTN - one of their best songs, in my opinion, but not one of their most well-known. I listened to it very intently because a musician/producer I respect posted it on Facebook saying that he could hear Agnetha & Frida singing the words "I still have faith in you" at the very end. He was convinced that the music bed for the clip must be one of the new songs - possibly even ISHFIY. At first, I could barely make out anything beyond IIWFTN and TWOFD but then I could make out the passage from OLS. At least I think that's what I'm hearing. More attuned ears of musical experts would be needed. But for now, I'd bet a bag of jelly babies on it. Sadly we think that trailer is fan made, although very good. Looking again, it certainly looks that way. I didn't even notice that it wasn't posted by ABBAvoyage - and it hasn't appeared on their socials. It's very slickly produced. Duh! Thinking about it (which I should have done to begin with!), it might not be wise to trail the new music with a clip like this, unless the sound/production was in this style. It's quite cinematic and bombastic. But still! I'm trying to imagine the shape of our discussions this time next week!
