What songs should be included in Mamma Mia 2?
Obviously favourites like Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Chiquitita and Honey Honey?
Super Trouper and Our Last Summer because they were "written by Donna and Sam/Harry" in the past which would be a reason to bring those songs back.
The Name Of The Game, Thank You For The Music, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Fernando, One Of Us, Knowing Me Knowing You and Under Attack were either omitted from the film, briefly sung or sung in the closing credits. I doubt that Under Attack will be in in this film.
Summer Night City - A perfect disco song (Why not?) Ring Ring So Long Head Over Heels - Describing Tanya Gonna Sing You My Lovesong - that would be perfect for this film about a relationship between Donna and one of 3 boyfriends. Move On - For Bill Andersson I Wonder - For Donna moving away for town? I'm A Marionette - For Donna, Rosie or Tanya trapped in the stardom in Donna and The Dynamos? My Mama Said between Donna and her mother? It's catchy enough. There should be a new character called Nina or Elaine so Nina, Pretty Ballerina or Elaine could be included? As Good As New If It Wasn't For The Nights Kisses Of Fire I've Been Waiting For You I would love for The Visitors to be included. That's Me
Overall, I predict that some of these songs will be included on Mamma Mia 2. Dancing Queen Mamma Mia Chiquitita Super Trouper Our Last Summer The Name Of The Game Thank You For The Music Gimme Gimme Gimme Fernando One Of Us Knowing Me Knowing You Summer Night City Ring Ring So Long Head Over Heels Gonna Sing You My Lovesong I Wonder I'm A Marionette My Mama Said As Good As New If It Wasn't For The Nights Kisses Of Fire I've Been Waiting For You The Visitors That's Me Maybe Nina, Pretty Ballerina Elaine
Any more suggestions?

I'd most like to see: KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU ANGEL EYES THE DAY BEFORE YOU CAME which should all be quite easy to fit into the script.
And also... SOLDIERS SUMMER NIGHT CITY which could be more difficult.

I don't think Summer Night City will be that difficult.

And also... SOLDIERS SUMMER NIGHT CITY which could be more difficult. Unless Donna encounters her boyfriends or father, whom they happen to be a soldier fighting World War II or other wars in a flashback sequence, it wouldn't be difficult to fit that in since I presume it's a sequel and a prequel...

We'll soon know which ABBA Songs have been chosen for the 2nd 'Mamma Mia!' Film.
Apparently the Filming of it is due to finish as early as October. No doubt, we will then start to get an idea as to at least some of the Songs in it.
Elsewhere, I've seen some ABBA Fans complaining that some of the Songs from the 1st Film will be in it. But, that has to happen, as the Film will be both about the present & the past. That means that we will see how the Female Group first had success. Which means that some of their early Hits will have to be shown. Which is why we will see 'Dancing Queen' again - as well as others from the 1st Film. (Not too many, I hope, as Film 2 should mainly be used to reveal 'new' ABBA Songs to a wider audience - to promote ABBA).
'Mamma Mia' will also have to be in Film 2, as the Film is named after it. It would be really silly if Film 2 did not have that ABBA Song in it.....

So far I know of 2 'new' ABBA Songs that are definitely in the 2nd 'Mamma Mia!' Film. (By 'new', I mean Songs that were not in the 1st Film).
1)... BJORN -- The 2nd Film will deal with both the present and the past. As some of us guessed, the past allows, 'When I Kissed The Teacher', to be used in a School Days scene. Apparently, this scene is at the start of the Film. Bjorn is to play a Teacher - but, he is very likely too old, to actually play the Teacher, who the Song is being sung to.....
2)... PIERCE BROSNAN -- He is to sing 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' in the Film. No doubt he will 'murder' it, as he did with 'S.O.S.' & 'When All Is Said And Done' in the 1st Film. Why Benny & Bjorn did not choose Actors who could actually sing is one of life's big mysteries.....

WIKTT...If it is the first track, then it's a very good opener, and dare I say not that well known outside of our community? So would go down well... good start.
as for KMKY, to be honest whatever Pierce Brosnan sang wasn't going to be great, shame in a way that it's an all time classic...
its going to get interesting

Great to hear that When I Kissed The Teacher will be featured. One of my favourite ABBA songs, incredibly commercial, and deserving of a wider audience.
Disappointing that Knowing Me Knowing You will be sung by Pierce Brosnan, but at least what is possibly the greatest ABBA song of all will be used. I was surprised it wasn't in the first film, but I guess it didn't fit the story.
Looking forward to more revelations about the song list! Hopefully plenty more less famous songs.

Here is an Article about 'Mamma Mia! 2' - complete with a Video Clip of the, (unfinished), 'When I Kissed The Teacher' scene. www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-4822908/Lily-James-jazzy-jumpsuit-Mamma-Mia-2-images.htmlAs you can see, by the Comments beneath the Article, some people don't see any point in having a sequel. Others seem to think that the Film will only be about the younger days of the main cast of the 1st Film. In fact, it is about their younger days & also how they are faring as older characters - in the present day. Which is why Meryl Streep & Pierce Brosnan etc. are again cast in the 2nd Film. As well as Actors playing them as young people.....

I read something on the internet that said Angeleyes will be in the film. Now I can't find it so I can't post a link. How useless am I? Anyway, it's another great choice for inclusion.

As well as WIKTT I think the following would be good-Hasta Manana, Ring Ring, Dance while the music still goes on, Rock me, So long,I've been waiting for you, Knowing me Knowing you, Why did it have to be me, I wonder, As good as new, Angel Eyes, iF it wasn't for the nights, Kisses of fire, On and on and on, Andante Andante, One of us, Under Attack, The way old friends do ( closure of film), Summer Night City and Just like that, The day before you came and Waterloo. Fernando would be good but tricky to work in unless referred to as a song they used to sing a long to. Me and I could be used to comical effect. We can only guess.

I too have heard a rumour, that 'Angeleyes' will be in 'Mamma Mia! 2'. Of course it would be used in a scene by a river, I guess. Possibly the main river in Oxford, in the UK. Which is the River Cherwell. After all, the 'When I Kissed The Teacher' scene seems to have been filmed at Oxford University.
However, it is just a rumour, as to whether 'Angeleyes' is in the Film.
If it is in the Film, it means that the 2 Songs, (so far), that were not in Film 1, are from 'More ABBA Gold'. Which would cause me to wonder if all of the 'new' Songs in Film 2 are from 'More ABBA Gold', and that there will be no chance for 'Move On', 'Hole In Your Soul', 'Tiger', 'As Good As New' etc. to be in the Film - which is a pity.
So, I am wondering if Universal plan to use the Film to re-promote 'More ABBA Gold'. In 2008, they did not re-promote 'More ABBA Gold', when the 1st Film was a success. Which is why 'ABBA Gold' returned to No.1 in the UK & 'More ABBA Gold' only reached No.63, (for 2 Weeks), at that time. (After reaching No.14 in 1993 & No.13 in 1999).
Of course, Film 2 can also be used to re-promote 'ABBA Gold', as there are several Songs from Film 1 in it - 'Dancing Queen' & 'Mamma Mia', to name but two.

^^^ I thought this back in May in a previous post..
its looking logical, most of the "new" songs will be on that album anyhow, so it's going to be easy to re promote it, here in the UK it's been largely overlooked since its initial release, and brief return in 1999, since then nothing really. It has sold in the region of 500,000, probably less, so a long way of Golds 5.1 million again good potential to promote again, It might even peak higher than 13, possibly a top 10 or even a miracle ABBAs 10th number album.
all will come clear closer to the time, and I might be miles off and nothing of the sort will happen, but here in the UK , Gold is still selling around 1000 to 2000 a week, but hasn't troubled the top 75 for a little while now, that will change of course when the new film gets released. Of course there will be a MM2 album...so perhaps a lot of chart action to come...
as with everything we will will have to wait, but should be fun speculating...

...Possibly the main river in Oxford, in the UK. Which is the River Cherwell. After all, the 'When I Kissed The Teacher' scene seems to have been filmed at Oxford University... The Cherwell has stiff competition to the title of Oxford's main river, given that the Thames runs through it too The narrowboat scene with the students was filmed on the Thames near the Trout Inn at Wolvercote, a few miles out of the city. The cycling was shot very close by, around the White Hart pub at Wytham. The university filming took place at New College in Holywell Street. I'm probably overthinking this, but the location choices are unusual enough to invite plot speculation. It's expensive to shoot at an Oxford college, and logistically inconvenient too. While it might be necessary for Inspector Morse or Harry Potter, no crew is going to choose this option just because they want any old schoolroom for When I Kissed the, er, Tutor. Plus, the students in the river scene are accurately dressed, not only in Oxford's graduation gown, but with correctly selected male/female ties, shirts etc. There would be no reason to go to these lengths if the Oxford connection was not explicit in the film, risking 'movie mistakes' comments if they got it wrong. So I'm wondering if Oxford figures in the plot itself. For example, maybe the Meryl Streep character first met one of the three guys she slept with when her band played at an Oxford graduation party and he was a student there. Or a tutor, er, teacher. Was there any 'backstory' for the three guys in the original?

Benny has now confirmed that 'Angel Eyes' & 'I Wonder' will be in 'Mamma Mia! 2'.
I think that 'I Wonder' is a very weak ABBA Song & I'd far rather that much stronger ABBA Ballads had been used instead - such as 'One Man, One Woman' & 'My Love, My Life'.
I recall that more than one Review of 'The Album', in 1978, singled out 'I Wonder' as being a very ordinary Song & production, by ABBA's usual standards. I've never felt that it has very much going on in it - either in harmonies or instrumentation. ABBA would never have been so huge had 'I Wonder' been typical of their sound & style. It is too weak & bland.
Benny & Bjorn have always had a far greater affection for 'I Wonder' than a lot of ABBA's Fans. That is why it ended up on 'Greatest Hits Vol.2' in 1979, when it had only been the 'B' Side of 'The Name Of The Game'.
Now Benny has covered it on his 'Piano' Album too. I guess that it was inevitable, that he & Bjorn would think it strong enough to feature in the 2nd 'Mamma Mia!' Film.
NOTE -- Benny also says that only 1 full Song & 2 'half' Songs' will be used again for the 2nd Film. 'Dancing Queen' is the full Song that will be reused. One of the 'half Songs' is sure to be 'Mamma Mia', as it is in the Title of Film 2. The other 'half Song' will be either 'Waterloo' or 'The Winner Takes It All' - at a guess. I could be wrong, & the 2nd 'half Song' could be 'Super Trouper' or 'Money, Money, Money'. We will see.....

Hi folks! New member here in the community!
I´ve also read that "Knowing Me Knowing You" Will be sung by Pierce Brosnan and that "Why Did It Have To Be Me" will be featured in the film! The one´s we know so far then should be: Mamma mia (obvious) Dancing Queen (obvious) Knowing Me, Knowing You (Sung by Pierce) When I Kissed The Teacher (Sung by young Donna & the Dynamos) Angeleyes (mentioned by Benny) I Wonder (mentioned by Benny) Why Did It Have To Be Me (mentioned by Benny)
I´m so curious what else will be featured but I´m hoping for these: As Good As New My Love, My Life Dance (While The Music Still Goes On) Move On Another Town, Another Train The Day Before You Came (I adore this song, but can´t see how these lyrics would fit in no matter how hard I try.) ;-)

So - 'Why Did It Have To Be Me?' will be in 'Mamma Mia! 2'?
It is not one of my personal favourites off 'Arrival', but I guess they will use it as a Male/Female duet, as it had prominent Male vocals in 1976. (That is if it is used in the Film).
I guess that they can't use too many Songs from the 1st Film, as that would mean trying to sell the same ABBA Songs on the 2nd Film's Soundtrack. As it is, the 1st Soundtrack has sold around 5,600,000 to 5,800,000 Globally, with over 1,800,000 in the USA & over 1,500,000 in the UK. It would be harder to sell Millions of the 2nd Film's Soundtrack if too many Songs on it had already been on the 1st one.....
I do hope that more of the ABBA Songs that I love will be included in the Film. I'm rather disappointed with 'I Wonder' & 'Why Did It Have To Be Me?'. I hope that there will be some fast ABBA Songs - with punch - that Agnetha & Frida sang lead on. Such as 'As Good As New' & 'Kisses Of Fire' etc. I guess it would be hard to fit 'Tiger' into the Film.

It is too weak & bland... I can understand some of those objections, but what's endearing about it (apart from the lyrics being pretty close to home with Frida) is that it's the first documented obvious proof of the guys' ambitions to write for the stage someday. I don't find it at all surprising that Björn and Benny have a soft spot for it. In fact, the question is why it wasn't somehow fitted into the original show - but I bet they lobbied hard for it to be included in the sequel!

In a Swedish interview Benny said tvat many songs in MM2 will only be known by diehard fans and exemplified with Angeleyes, I wonder and Why Did it have to be me. I personalmy think that WDIHTBM is a very catchy uplifting number with the right MM feeling in it.
In another interview today Benny managed to reveal that his cameo part will be in scenes from Paris, ehich was interesting location news.

I 're-visited' 'I Wonder' on YouTube last night & carefully listened to it with my eyes closed. It was a lot better than I recall it. Of course Frida sings it very well indeed. The instrumentation is more complex than I remember - more rich. It is not as 'weak' as I remembered it. On reflection it will be a fitting 'new' ABBA Song in 'Mamma Mia! 2'. I guess that those who heard 'Slipping Through My Fingers', for the 1st time, in Film 1 will be equally fond of 'I Wonder'.
In the meantime, Benny's 'Piano' Album is doing very well in the iTunes Charts of several Countries. It may even reach the UK Top 10 next Friday - W/E 12th October Chart. If it does, it will be the 1st time that he's placed 'new' Tracks in the UK Album Top 10 since 'Chess' reached No.10 on W/E 2nd March 1985 - 32 Years & 7 Months ago.....
Regarding 'Why Did It Have To Be Me?' - I always find it harder to like ABBA Songs with Male lead vocals, than those with Agnetha & Frida on lead. I'm not the only one. That is why 'Does Your Mother Know' only reached No.4 in the UK in 1979 & why it only got to No.10 in West Germany. It was seen as being rather disappointing by a lot of ABBA Fans.....
If the Male 'Singers' in the 1st 'Mamma Mia!' Film are a guide, then any Songs in Film 2, with Male lead vocals, will not sound terribly well sung. I felt that - over-all - the Female vocals in Film 1 were stronger.....

I do understand the comparison with DYMK regarding WDIHTBM, I just think the latter is better and I love the cut from ABBA- the moviet with Frida going wild. I think it has the potential to be a showstopper sung by the right people in the right setting. A song sung by bjorn doesn´t necessarily has to be sung by a male in the movie as evident with DYMK in the first MM.
I do agree with you that the female voices of MM1 was arguably stronger than the male ones. I´m by the way going to a MM1 movie singalong in November. Never attended one before som I´m quite looking forward to it. Has anyone been to MM singalongs?

Colin, it's good to hear that your opinion of I Wonder has improved after giving it a fresh listen. This has happened to me with other ABBA songs in the past, such as I'm A Marionette and Lovers Live A Little Longer. There's so much going on in most ABBA songs that there is almost always something to enjoy. In fact, after having been a fan for over 40 years, there are now only two songs I really don't like (I Am Just A Girl and Two For The Price Of One). Perhaps I'm just brainwashed! :-)

Like all the tracks mentioned so far, it may all become clearer when we see them weaved into the story, like a few here IW is not a favourite, a "skipper" but may have a whole different outlook when we see where it is placed and sung by...great speculating..
As for WDIHTBM, I've always liked the rockier ones, a little in the vain of OAOAO, it's always one to get the crowd going, as long as it's not sung by Pierce Brunson...lol...

That is exciting! ;-) There are different options as I see it! 1. Actually been writing a new song to have a chance on an Oscar for "best song". 2. Been writing one specific tune that fits with the story because of lack of suitable lyrics in abbas back catalogue. 3. Small pieces of music to tie bakground music together.
My dreamoption is that ABBA actually records a new single released a month before the film and then it´s also included in the movie with the cast. Wouldn´t that be the best of news.
