Could it be that Donna has passed away given that Like an Angel passing through my room is in the film? Might be an easier song for Pierce to sing and a harder one for us to listen to. If she has passed on ... it could be the new ‘Beaches’. Loved that film. Made me feel good and sad but uplifting at the end.

I just saw a trailer for MM2 in the cinema, and the songs in it were I Have A Dream, Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia. Great to see that ABBA only have such a few songs! 🙄

Oh no. They need to move away from those songs and show new ones and i really cant take to I have a dream. So many good songs and this ends up in both! People will think it’s the same songs with a slightly different story especially if they only occasionally go to the cinema and see the trailer showing the same songs. My advice dump the trailers featuring the songs from Mamma Mia 1 and start showing trailers with the new songs.

According to the 'Official' Mamma Mia! 2 Site, the Final Trailer for the Film is out tomorrow - Tuesday 8th May.
Hopefully, it will showcase more than yet more ABBA Songs from the 1st Film.
A lot of people don't know many ABBA Song & the Trailers are making them think that the 2nd Film is going to be nothing but Songs from Film 1, all over again!
So, far we have had 3 or 4 Trailers & the only 'fresh' ABBA Songs in them were 'Fernando' & 'Angel Eyes'. The rest have been ABBA Songs from 'Mamma Mia! 1'. I really do think that a better job should have been done with the Trailers & the ABBA Songs featured in them.....

I'm told that the UK Premiere of 'Mamma Mia! 2' is also its World Premiere.
It is at the Eventim Apollo, in Hammersmith, London, on Monday 16th July.
The Eventim Apollo has a mixed, (seating & standing), capacity of around 3,500. It has a capacity of 5,000, if everyone is standing.

Here's the 'final' trailer:
At least we get a bit of Fernando!

Ok, from a marketing point of view I do understand, familiarity, knowing the songs, drag them in, but somehow I really do feel they have missed something, just a snippet of a couple of other uptempo tracks, As Good As New, Kisses of Fire, etc..
because it does look and feel a little bit to MM1. Cher is the only" funny" New extra...
Hopefully these marketing guys know better than " us"

Don’t get it. Even if they voiced over saying 17 new songs with some old favourites. If I didn’t know better I would be under the impression it’s the same soundtrack.

Does that mean it was released as a single?

So we had 4 or 5 Trailers for 'Mamma Mia! 2' and only 2 ABBA Songs were featured, that were not in Film 1. 'Fernando' and 'Angel Eyes'.
Every other ABBA Song, in the Trailers was also in Film 1 - 'Mamma Mia', 'Dancing Queen', 'Waterloo' and 'I Have A Dream'.
The Trailers make it look like Film 2 is nothing but a copy of Film 1.
It is very short sighted Marketing.
I guess that the only advantage, is that the 'New' ABBA Songs in Film 2, will be a big surprise, to a lot of those people who go to see it.

That’s providing people go to see it if they think it’s just the same soundtrack! Not sure the marketing team have got it right. With those trailers and if I was not an Abba fan and informed I don’t think I would be going to see it. They should have a re think and soon. They need to highlight that there are a batch of new songs in the film.

Ok " we" think they are missing a point, and I think we are right, but hey... Ive looked at the new trailers a few times now, and I think that the clips they show are not actually the tracks that are being sung! , Im no lip reader, but it seems not to fit, at least not the whole clip, which if I'm correct, makes more of a puzzlement than ever, why!! Does anyone else think the same? It just seems to be over dubbed with the familiar favourites, where in actuality it may be another track. Has it got that bad for just a few tracks to pique the public interest, advertising the film with well known tracks to get them into see the film....if so those that do go are in for a big surprise....all those " new" tracks to hear....When I Kissed The Teacher, should be one of the first "new" tracks..great start. When all is said and done( no pun intended) .. it's going to get slated, but will be another big hit, well I hope so anyway..

Yes, it’s not just the fact that they are using the same songs in the trailers, it’s also the fact that the clips mostly look like they could have been in the first film (groups of women dancing down the street, etc).
But I guess I will fork out the money to see it. The full song list is pretty excellent.

The 'Mamma Mia! 2' Soundtrack is released on Friday 13th July.
Like the 1st 'Mamma Mia!' Soundtrack it has 18 ABBA Songs on it.
Then the World Premiere of the Film is in London, on Monday 16th July.

^^^ Brilliant! Are you one of the bicyclists? I wish! The pic was taken on my own graduation day four years ago (I was a mature student of course!). The MM2 costume people have clearly hired authentic gowns and hoods for the extras and, strangely, have paid close attention to the correct male and female attire under the gown too. I say strangely because there was hardly any need for such accuracy, not least because it should really be 'when I kissed the tutor'
One might expect costumes to be more realistic for foreground stars than background extras. However, in this scene the fake gowns are those worn by the three performers. This would be because the hood collar prevents the gown from being easily removed as required for the number. Also, the real gown is far too heavy to be twirled around and cast aside like that.

Already, we have 'Doom & Gloom' people saying that 'Mamma Mia! 2' is going to flop.
Here is what LightSource says. Comment 1 was before he saw the 'When I Kissed The Teacher' Clip. The 2nd comment is after he's seen it:
"I can see this bombing at the box office but becoming a cult hit".
"Hopefully the floppage of this movie won't detract from the new stuff in December".
Below is my Post, in response to LightSource - and others like him:
LightSource - The Film is not going to flop. There is huge interest in it.
It is unlikely to be as big as the 1st 'Mamma Mia!' Film, as that one was so successful.
I recall when the 1st Film came out in 2008.
A lot of people said that one was going to flop too. I was told that the 1st Film had: 'No chance' to do well. So, it is to be expected that such people now say Film 2 is going to flop. They were wrong in 2008 & they are wrong in 2018...
Film 1 ended up being the UK's biggest ever Box Office success. It is about 10th now.
The Soundtrack for Film 1 sold over 1,500,000 in the UK & 7,700,000 Globally.
The DVD of Film 1 sold almost 1,670,000 UK copies on its 1st Day of release, in November 2008. By the end of Week 1, it had sold over 3,200,000 in the UK. It is still the UK's biggest selling DVD - over 5,500,000 copies sold. it sold 2,225,000 copies on Day 1 in the USA.
Even if 'Mamma Mia! 2' only does half as well as Film 1, it will still be regarded as a big success.
There is absolutely no evidence that Film 2 will flop. Except in the 'Doom & Gloom' minds of very negative & cynical people. The same types that predicted disaster for the 1st Film...

For all the Doomers and Gloomers there's the Happy Clappers, what would you rather be?
I tend to fall into the latter, but with a little realism.... so truthfully....
its going to be a big HIT, we need another feel good factor, life is soooooo Doom and Gloom otherwise...
sit back and enjoy the ride... it's going to be fun...

I'll go for the doom and gloom any day. Seeing everyone running around, screeching and laughing at nothing in particular in Mamma Mia! was enough to depress even the cheeriest of people, not to mention bleach my eyes and cover my ears.
I hope the people who bought the Mamma Mia! soundtrack and film also bought the original ABBA albums, etc.
I couldn't actually care less if the second film is successful or not. It's not ABBA. And yes, the world is a dismal place indeed but if I want to cheer myself up I can listen to the original songs or watch a film of actual QUALITY and realism.
Yours sincerely,
Doom 'n' Gloom merchant.
