Happy 73rd Birthday Agnetha
It would be wonderful to see her English solo albums from the 1980s get re-released as Deluxe Editions with any additional bonus tracks and unreleased songs.

Alan, this is fantastic news. I look forward to hearing more forthcoming information. Are you sure it isn't a cruel April 1 Fool's joke ? Am I the first victim to be taken in ? I hope not ! Yes, Ed, I’m afraid. I forgot the the date for a minute and believed it myself. I was so quick to post it on here that I initially put “Are our dreams about to come true?” Not sure if you may have replied to my original post and you posted your reply while I was editing it. Some of the comments in ABBA Access’s post weren’t too happy, and I can understand that. Something silly like ABBA Voyage dolls - complete with Tron outfits - going on sale might have been amusing but something like this much less so. It will be even more hilarious if it actually turned out to be true what a fabulous prediction and not everything posted on April Fools Day is always a joke things have turned out to be real in the past and 'Hit Me Like A Train' is actually the title of one of the 2 unreleased songs from the Voyage sessions.

I really wish that 'Love Has Its Ways' had been included as a bonus track on the 2013 Deluxe Version of Ring Ring as I consider it an ABBA song and its one of my favourite songs its really catchy and sounds fantastic.
My 3 favourite songs from the Ring Ring album are 'Nina Pretty Ballerina', 'Me And Bobby And Bobby's Brother' & 'Disillusion'.

I really would prefer it if the two singles from 1982 weren't included in 'The Visitors' box set as those songs and their B-Sides were intended for the unfinished 9th album You’ve said that before but it’s not actually true. Only I Am The City, Just Like That and You Owe Me One were recorded for a possible new album but when it became clear that none of them were considered good enough, album project was abandoned. The other three 1982 songs were later recorded specifically for use on a greatest hits and as singles, never intended for a studio album. You Owe Me One got resurrected because they needed a second b-side, and likely because that’s all it would have been anyway. There are those that believe the other two songs were being saved for a 1983/84 album. Unlikely, as they’d already been cast aside. 'Under Attack', 'Cassandra' & 'The Day Before You Came' would have been included on the 9th album had it been finished in 1982/1983 would have been rather ridiculous to have left them off the album and the fact that they already had 'You Owe Me One', 'Just Like That' & 'I Am The City' with 6 songs they had a half finished album already

[...] The Visitors box set will be a much cheaper option as there will only be three singles in that release. According to Ian Cole, The Visitors box set will be released this Christmas. [...] I hope Ian is right - The Visitors is the set I've been most looking forward to. I wonder if TDBYC and UA will be included in the singles box and picture discs? The singles that will be in The Visitors box set are rumoured to be Head Over Heels/The Visitors One of Us/Should I Laugh Or Cry When All Is Said And Done/Soldiers Under Attack/You Owe Me One The Day Before You Came/Cassandra I would like it if Universal threw a curve ball and included 'Slipping Through My Fingers' as a single with 'Se Me Esta Escapando' as the B-Side it would be nice as 'Slipping Through My Fingers' was released as a single in Japan. I really would prefer it if the two singles from 1982 weren't included in 'The Visitors' box set as those songs and their B-Sides were intended for the unfinished 9th album and it would be better to include them as standalone singles I would like it if 'Cassandra' was made the A-Side but I know that won't happen. It will be interesting to see if 2024 follows the pattern of the Deluxe Editions and a Half Speed Master of the 'Gracias Por La Musica' album gets released along with a box set of singles and the 2014 Deluxe Edition practically confirmed it as a regular studio album and as its ABBA's only Spanish album it would be nice to complete the set. More ABBA Gold badly needs a Vinyl re-release as its the only way to get 'I Am The City' on Vinyl and its now the hardest ABBA compilation to find on Vinyl. I haven't bothered with the other Half Speed master albums as they didn't interest me but I will get 'Ring Ring' as its my favourite ABBA album and I will also buy The Visitors Half Speed master.

AdamDawson2003 , I must admit I am surprised that Ring Ring is your favourite ABBA album. Tell us why you like it more than the others. I just love the songs on the Ring Ring album my favourites are 'Nina Pretty Ballerina', 'Me And Bobby And Bobby's Brother', 'Love Isn't Easy (But It Sure Is Hard Enough)', 'Another Train, Another Train', Disillusion' & 'Ring Ring' its such a wonderful album I love the front cover and I was thrilled with the Deluxe version in 2013 it would have been nice to have had 'Ah Vilker Tider' & 'Love Has Its Ways' included its hard to describe why its my favourite ABBA album. I do think 'Voulez Vous' is ABBA's best album purely because of what an incredibly fantastic album it is, ABBA are at the very best by this point and for me the songs are just absolutely amazing.

I would have preferred the 2001 cover to have been used for the Ring Ring album as it looks much better. Does it? Not sure I could agree with you there. The 2001 artwork has never been used for vinyl issues as far as I know, so I wouldn’t want them to start with this. I’ve always liked the font they used for the titles of the original artwork. Plus they weren’t known as ABBA then so to place the 1976 ABBA logo onto a 1973 album has always jarred with me (and similar with Waterloo and ABBA). The 2001 artwork was a vast improvement on the previous CD artwork, but that wasn’t too difficult. It worked at the time, but I find the standardisation of titles and tracklistings a bit boring now. Too much “one size fits all”. I get that younger fans that have only known the modern artwork might prefer it, but it’s nice to see the original font used for this. Especially the picture disc covers and coloured vinyl box. Al the albums were re-issued on Vinyl in 2001 using the 2001 artwork hence why I would have liked the 2001 artwork I think the ABBA logo looks much better on the album I have nothing against the original cover.

I never bother with the half-speed LPs either. I'm a big fan of the boxed singles sets, though. I'm a sucker for a well-produced picture disc too but, if it was reduced to an either/or choice, I'd happily settle for the singles box. When the first 8 studio albums are finally done and dusted, I wonder if/how they'd approach a set for Voyage, given that the four physically-released singles had no B-sides. Four (or possibly five, depending on whether they consider NDAI a formal single) single-sided discs would require quite a brass-necked sales pitch. And, yes, the album picture discs would have been a brilliant part of an ABBA-50 "festival" in 2024. Have you thought that Gracias Por La Musica might get the half speed master treatment it would follow the pattern of the Deluxes

Released on 19th May 2023 Ring Ring - 50th Anniversary 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s first album 'Ring Ring'. To celebrate, Universal Music are releasing the album on double half-speed mastered LP, a box set of 5 coloured vinyl singles, and 5 picture disc of singles from the album – People Need Love/Merry-Go-Round He Is Your Brother/Santa Rosa Ring Ring (Bara du slog en signal)/Åh, Vilka Tider Ring Ring [English version]/She’s My Kind Of Girl Love Isn’t Easy (But It Sure Is Hard Enough)/I Am Just A Girl. All the releases have appeared on Amazon UK I would have preferred the 2001 cover to have been used for the Ring Ring album as it looks much better I wonder if the half speed master of The Visitors will be released later in the year

'When You Danced With Me', 'I Can Be That Woman', 'Just A Notion', 'Don't Shut Me Down', 'Keep An Eye On Dan' & 'Bumblebee' are my favourite songs from the voyage album I love all the songs on it but 'Ode To Freedom' really needs to grow on me, I really like 'Little Things', No Doubt About It' & 'I Still Have Faith In You'.
I still am gobsmacked that 'When You Danced With Me' wasn't released as a single its literally screaming out to be a single its such a fantastic song and classic ABBA it was the one song I wanted to hear when the tracklist was released I think it would have been a better choice than 'No Doubt About It' which is an excellent song.

Does anyone know if there were ever discussions of Bjorn & Benny doing an album with Elaine Paige & Barbara Dickson I have just been listening to 'I Know Him So Well' and the part where they sing together 'Didn't I know, how it would go, if I knew from the start, why am I falling apart' the way their voices blend together so well on that part is stunning and their voices go well together its also how interesting how Barbara's voice dominates the start of that verse I think it would have been wonderful had Bjorn & Benny doing a full with Elaine & Barbara instead of Gemini.
Also has anyone noticed how similar 'Keep An Eye On Dan' is to 'Ghost Town' by Gemini in the verses in particular and the backing track.

Shine is a fantastic album I prefer it over Something's Going On and 'Comfort Me' is a beautiful song such a gorgeous vocal by Frida.
The unreleased songs that were recorded during the sessions for Shine are 'I Don't Wanna Be Alone', 'My Dearest Friend', 'Love Turns To Lies', 'I One Of God's Children' & 'Can't Be Serious' I really hope Shine gets a Deluxe Edition like Something's Going On did and do Agnetha's albums as well.

AdamDawson2003 , I agree Hovas Vittne is a great song. The original lyrics are funny and I think the song could be released as it is. I definitely agree it could be released as it is now it would have been wonderful though if ABBA had recorded it in English with non jokey lyrics.

I have just been listening to Hovas Vittne and it has a really good backing track I would love to see the song get an official release on an ABBA compilation its a great shame that ABBA never decided to rewrite the lyrics with a completely different meaning and record it in English it was recorded on 20th January 1981 two months before ABBA began recording sessions for The Visitors album I know that parts of the melody of 'Hovas Vittne' were reused in the Chess song 'Merano' in the line 'Where breathing will turn you on, where water tastes like wine'.
It would have been interesting to see how ABBA could have adapted 'Hovas Vittne' had they decided to record an English version.

I Still Have Faith In You/Ode To Freedom Don't Shut Me Down/No Doubt About It Just A Notion/Bumblebee When You Danced With Me/Little Things I Can Be That Woman/Keep An Eye On Dan
I adore 'When You Danced With Me' and think it should have been released as a single in place of 'No Doubt About It' which is a good song and it would have been interesting to have seen how 'I Can Be That Woman' would have faired had it been released as a single.
I love all the songs on 'Voyage' including 'Ode To Freedom' it still needs to grow on me I like every song that ABBA have ever recorded there isn't one song I dislike.
I actually think ABBA made a mistake with making 'The Day Before You Came' an A Side I would have flipped it and had 'Cassandra' as the A Side for two reasons its a better song and its classic ABBA and very catchy they made the perfect choice releasing 'Under Attack' as a single its an excellent song and one of their most underrated songs its in my top 10 favourite ABBA songs.

'Voyage' is a special for me as an ABBA fan as its the first album to be released during my lifetime I was born in 1990 and as a 32 year old I love ABBA's music so much its a huge part of my life and has been since I first discovered them in 2003 at the age of 13.
The feelings I had when I listened to 'Don't Shut Me Down' & 'I Still Have Faith In You' was like I had discovered ABBA again the very first time such a wonderful experience then came the 'Voyage' album and that was just surreal, 'When You Danced With Me' & 'I Can Be That Woman' are the songs I wanted to hear more than the rest I love every song on the album 'Little Things' is beautiful, I absolutely adore 'Just A Notion', 'Keep An Eye On Dan' & 'Bumblebee'.
I owe so much to ABBA as their music saved me from a very dark place as a teenager due to being bullied at high school I had enough of it all but then I found a copy of ABBA Gold and it completely changed my life and I found music as a place to escape.
I have Aspergers Syndrome and Anxiety and music gets me through the tough times in life it was my saviour during the 3 UK lockdowns all the different artists I listened to but always had ABBA at the centre of it living life with autism is hard but as long as I have music I can get through anything, music helps me to calm down when my Anxiety levels rise.
'Dream World' is my favourite ABBA song and my favourite ABBA album is 'Ring Ring'.

Alot of people give 'Head Over Heels' so much negativity I really like it and feel it was the correct choice to make it an A-Side its catchy as hell surprised it never did well when it was first released as single.
'When All Is Said And Done' is the best song on 'The Visitors' album by far and it should have been a single but I also feel that had 'Slipping Through My Fingers' been given a chance as an international single it could have done well its a beautiful song.
Singles released from 'The Visitors' album
Head Over Heels/The Visitors One of Us/Should I Laugh Or Cry When All Is Said And Done/Soldiers
These are the songs that should have been singles from The Visitors
Slipping Through My Fingers/Two For The Price Of One I Let The Music Speak/Like An Angel Passing Through My Room
'Giving A Little Bit More' was another song recorded during the sessions for The Visitors album and features Bjorn on lead vocals it sounds far more progressed than a demo I think there is probably a full length version in the vaults and parts of it were re-used in the song 'TLC' by Gemini for their 1987 album 'Geminism'.
It would be nice to see a new re-issue of all of ABBA's albums on CD with the relevant bonus tracks
Here is a possible tracklist for a re-issue of 'The Visitors' album
1. The Visitors 2. Head Over Heels 3. When All Is Said And Done 4. Soldiers 5. I Let The Music Speak 6. One of Us 7. Two For The Price Of One 8. Slipping Through My Fingers 9. Like An Angel Passing Through My Fingers
Bonus Tracks
10. Should I Laugh Or Cry 11. Giving A Little Bit More 12. Another Morning Without You (Early Version of Like An Angel Passing Through My Room) 13. Like An Angel Passing Through My Room (Disco Version) 14. Two For The Price Of One (Early Version) 15. When All Is Said And Done (Early Version) 16. Se Me Esta Escapando (Spanish Version of Slipping Through My Fingers) 17. No Hay A Quien Culpar (Spanish Version of When All Is Said And Done)

The only other song they had for inclusion on The Visitors was Should I Laugh Or Cry. But that would have given Frida five leads on the album. Two For The Price Of One at least evened things out and made for some variation. Although it's a bit uptempo, I don't think it's a light song. It's essentially about deep loneliness and Bjorn's lead vocal is also downbeat. I like the intricate vocal harmonies by the ladies in the chorus. 'Giving A Little Bit More' was also recorded during the sessions for The Visitors album which features Bjorn on lead vocals it sounds more progressed than a demo would be interesting to hear the song in its entirety and parts of the song were re-used in the 1987 Gemini song 'TLC'.

And you guy’s talking bout The Singles being a great compilation, it is, but the epic release of Thank You For The Music the following year is a beautiful collection of songs, I love the 80’s cover too, a CD release of that would be a nice addition. I agree 100% that the 1983 compilation album 'Thank You For The Music' definitely needs a CD edition. I have been listening to both Gemini albums from 1985 & 1987 and not sure if anyone has noticed the similarities between the melodies of 'Ghost Town' and 'Keep An Eye On Dan' even the lyrical themes are very similar. The chorus of 'Slow Emotion', 'Copy Love', 'Wild About That Girl', 'Sniffin Out The Snakes', 'TLC (Tender Loving Care)' and the opening of 'There's No Way To Fool A Heart' are giving off vibes of 'No Doubt About It'. I have no idea why but 'Nearly There' reminds me of 'When You Danced With Me' 'Ode To Freedom' and 'I Can Be That Woman' sound very similar to 'Have Mercy'. I would love to hear Agnetha & Frida sing 'Too Much Love Is Wasted', 'Another You, Another Me', 'When I Close My Eyes', 'Live On The Love', 'Slow Emotion', 'Nearly There' & 'I Am The Universe' they really need to get in the studio and record those songs and hearing Frida sing 'I'm A Bitch When I See Red' would be really interesting with Agnetha joining in the chorus.

The Singles - I had the album for my 11th birthday in November 1982. Usually my brother got the albums but he wasn’t interested in this one (he got the two singles instead). I played it a lot at the time as it was mine. I even kept a list of every time I played it (which is still kept in the album sleeve)! There was some sadness to it as it really did seem like the end (whatever they may have said to the contrary). And it was rather obvious that they were in a steep commercial decline. I remember being a bit surprised to learn that the album had reached number one for a week. That cover photo hasn’t dated well. Frida’s dress is hideous and doesn’t suit her at all. Agnetha’s, with those ridiculous shoulders, is just as bad. The album could have done with some more contemporary photos. The back sleeve and inner gatefold didn’t have any, and the inner sleeves used old photos to match the era of each of the four sides of vinyl. Side 4 was represented by that awful drawing/photo hybrid that graced the Under Attack single cover in most countries. As for a reissue, The Definitive/Essential Collection is just that, only much better. Or even Gold and More Gold together. Four sides of vinyl had to exclude some hits in order to maximise sound quality, but three notable UK omissions from The Singles were Angeleyes, Lay All Your Love On Me and Head Over Heels. Not to mention Honey Honey and Eagle. For me, therefore, it’s a flawed collection. I actually came up with a tracklist for what an updated version of The Singles: The First Ten Years could be CD 1 1. People Need Love 2. He Is Your Brother 3. Ring Ring 4. Love Isn't Easy (But It Sure Is Hard Enough) 5. Waterloo 6. Honey Honey 7. Hasta Manana 8. SOS 9. I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do 10. Mamma Mia 11. Bang A Boomerang 12. Dancing Queen 13. Knowing Me, Knowing You 14. Money, Money, Money 15. Fernando 16. Take A Chance On Me 17. The Name Of The Game 18. Eagle 19. Thank You For The Music CD 2 1. Summer Night City 2. Angeleyes 3. Chiquitita 4. I Have A Dream 5. Voulez Vous 6. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) 7. Does Your Mother Know 8. The Winner Takes It All 9. Super Trouper 10. Lay All Your Love On Me 11. Happy New Year 12. One of Us 13. On And On And On 14. When All Is Said And Done 15. Head Over Heels 16. Slipping Through My Fingers 17. The Visitors 18. Under Attack 19. The Day Before You Came When the delayed Half Speed master edition of The Visitors is released these are the singles that I think will be included in the box set One of Us/Should I Laugh Or Cry Head Over Heels/The Visitors When All Is Said And Done/Soldiers

8th November 2022 marked the 40th Anniversary of the release of ABBA's 1982 compilation album 'The Singles: The First Ten Years' it was the last album they would release before taking a break at the beginning of 1983 and it would be the last release from ABBA until their return in 2021 with their 9th album 'Voyage'. 'Under Attack'/'You Owe Me One' and 'The Day Before You Came'/'Cassandra' were the two singles released from 'The Singles: The First Ten Years' It would be wonderful to see a CD re-issue of 'The Singles: The First Ten Years' with an expanded tracklist what are your memories of the original release of this compilation on 8th November 1982.
