I'd be very surprised if it charts, to expensive, small quantities, but you never know takes about 1000 sales these days to get into UK top 75 album chart so it would need to sell well...
As for ITWFTN! a condrum, that we will probably never know why.... like you said considered lead single to never be released, strange one..
Mind you on another thread I believe .. AGAN and personally KOF should've been singles and huge....strange choices at the time🙄

Still listen occasionally to WYAAM and Something going on... Still think WYAAM is pure pop, very much of its day but good and the title track is one of my Favourites of all ABBA/related. It would be in my all time top 10.
As for the others not so much, but should revisit, as listened to The Angels Cry the other day and thought more of it than I previously thought.. The Last Time, I won't Let You Go also pretty good for the time....
They are all worth revisiting once a year !

Another marmite song... Lovers ( live a little longer) .. for me it's the screaming/shouting chorus, perhaps it's "so " different from the rest of the album that it stands out more. I can remember from the last forum it was one of the few tracks that never made a top 10/20, in the end I believe 50 or so top 100 were compiled.
The verses are interesting and flow well , then the chorus... not for me. It's a skip track...
Perhaps I need to listen objectively..

I'd have a good bet now that the single/s will be released at Christmas 2019 now, trying for that elusive Christmas number 1🙄

Bjorn has just been on UK breakfast TV.. mainly about MM the Party.. of course... He was a little hesitant to talk about anything else.. quite vague in fact , only mentioning briefly the new tracks November now !!!!
The wait goes on....

Its exciting news one way or the other, at least it keeps us interested and talking .. and what if !! A new Album .. if not, what we haven't had can't miss...
Cross those fingers, and carry on waiting, I hope to be alive let alone any of ABBA ..lol😂

^^^very similar, TWTIA gatefold worth about £5 Hot Pink vinyl of Wrap Your Arms Around Me, not even out of the cellophane !! Again about £10.. at a push..🙄 I'm guessing, my She's My Kinda Girl on Polar, is worth a little something, bought it in a second hand shop for 10p many years ago.might have doubled its value by now 😂 I used to think it was worth collecting all sorts of foreign releases, but realised that many if not all would really only be worth what I paid for them...and realised I have for instance Fernando 10 times, with a slightly different pic....do I really need Fernando in so many formats....no... There seems to be very few Albums/singles that are worth very much.. The one that comes to mind is a coloured pressing of Voulez Vous album worth a few hundred pounds...which I haven't got.... but do have a red 12 inch Voulez Vous single... i realised that unless a devoted investment fan who collects everything, nothing will be worth more than a few hundred in my life time..so I gave up.... but each to their their own, there's many levels of fandom.....

I have to agree that everything is subjective to a mood, time and place. Just imagine being that fan again listening to these albums for the very first time, ( I envy those new fans 🙄 Everything now instead of waiting years, but hey that's another discussion) . Which would be better... Arrival is superior, of course it is in so many ways, but there is the odd "duff" track ( depending on your own perspective) like Arrival or Dum Dum Diddle, every album has them ( another discussion ) . ABBA, is like a teenager, coming out of infancy, some great tracks, but some let's say not so good, but all are part of the ABBA history, we learn to love them or just skip.
Personally I tend to stick to the same tracks if I'm having an ABBA day, and sometimes just sometimes I'll go retro and see what I haven't heard for ages, and am surprised..
So for me it's a " mood" thing a moment when even Watch Out( one of my least favourite) might grab me and I think emmm better than I thought( unlikely but you know what I mean ) .
Each to their own..
personally one studio album to a desert island.. tough but probably Voulez Vous.. even that has my own " duff tracks" I Have A Dream and Lovers, but could listen to them 😀

Just out of curiosity, and for something to post. In the UK, only Dancing Queen has achieved sales of over 1 million, however two songs are not far away Super Trouper approx 978,000 and Knowing Me Knowing You on approx 973,000.. Last totals in 2010 had ST on 815,00 therefore an increase of 163,000, which is approx 18,000 per year.. so sometime next year ?? KMKY .2010. A 128,000 increase.. approx 14,500 a year . 2021 ? Anyone guess/speculate when they will get to that magic one million? Is MM2 having any real effect.. or all so unknown.. it could be 2050 .... as Gold is still selling well if you can call on average 2500 units a week well, but hey still in the UK top 40 weekly best sellers, just spent its 100th consecutive week !!!on it.. does that have any bearing on single sales? over to Colin I guess ?

In words of another track...." When All Is Said And Done" they didn't really like the ABBA version.. did they really like the Gemini version ?
JLT has reached a sort of cult status, because of it never being released and is a complete track....so it's taken on a Holy Grail, mythical status.. as for it being a massive hit.. ( as much as I would like it to have been) if released in 1982/3 it probably would have flopped making somewhere between 20 and 40 ,like all their stuff at that time, here in the UK, If it was released earlier 78/79 yes a big top 10. Its a great " bouncy track" sax version is good.. but truthfully guys would it really be among your top 10, if it didn't have " this status"
Its like being a child, many fans wanting what they can't have...
Alas I don't think we will ever see the full release by ABBA, they have had many opportunities to do so... we may have to wait for that day when none of them are around, and by then many like myself won't be either🙄
But we should never ever say never... look what's potentially happening this year..who hand on heart really would've thought....

A surprise 3 hits from Eurovision in the official U.K. Top 75 singles chart...
61.. Norway.. 6th 67.. Netherlands..1st 73.. Italy..2nd
Italy being the big surprise, as not a single vote tele or jury from the UK in the actual contest..
To add total humiliation.. UK entry doesn't make the Top 100.

Glad to see your still around ^^^ I know there's not a lot going, but we hang on in there, in eternal hope...which hopefully draws nearer....
Have to agree about Azerbaijan.. in every way... it should have done better and possibly won.. very contemporary and easily heard on Radio. To political ??
Cant see any of them now hitting the charts, a few in mid week's, but by tomorrow probably all fallen away...
I remember in the UK qualifiers , it wasn't different enough, far to safe and boring... also no offence.. not exactly eye candy either😮

Scandal at Eurovision....😮
Belarus broke the rules...🙄
Points re allocated....🤔
No change at the top 3🤗
Sweden rises to 5th🤔
Norway drops to 6th😢
San Marino rises to 19th🎉
UK gets even less and still finishes bottom with 11 points😱

Like you^^^ for everything that seems wrong about the Eurovision, I love it, and look forward every year, really from January onwards.. sad as it sounds, we all have a weakness😂
I just thought apart from a handful of songs the standard wasn't that good this year... but really like the voting now, as you couldn't predict who's going to win until literally the last two set of votes were cast, then the utter deflation of Sweden was priceless in his face...

Alas it wasn't a great competition, and although it was " nice" to see Netherlands win, in my opinion, not a great song, just ok. It's already a been a huge hit over Europe as was Italy's, so that may have had some influence. I'm always amazed how nothing really reaches the UK, it's as if we are the forgotten country when it comes to European releases and may be a factor in us doing dismally. I agree to a point even if we were to send someone like Adele, etc they would struggle To get a top 10 placing..
Politics will always play its part, and we are not popular to say the least, with only Ireland giving us 3 points in the public voting... so we truly need to re think this, we spend a lot of money on EBU, for very little in return apart from 4 hours of TV.. Ok we shouldn't be babies and throw our dummies out of the pram but we really do need to do something, otherwise ...what's the point...
I liked the new voting procedures, and the Classic look of disappointment on Swedens face as they only got 93 points was special to say the least, when they must of thought they had won.. only to finish 6th.
Madonna.. oh dear.. anti climax... she's out believed herself..she can't do it anymore and she's only 60 thinking she's 20... err not. Take note Madonna, use the ABBA girls as a role model....
So onto probably Amsterdam.. we have 12months to get it right.... unlikely....😢

Always is a bit emotive, regular in my case would be more apt, or never get tired of.... Dancing Queen As Good As New Kisses Of Fire Ive Been Waiting For You Lay All Your Love On Me Voulez Vous Loads of others I'd never "skip", but the above will always cheer me up, guess I like the high tempo tracks more , apart from IBWFY, which is just melodic perfection.

Alas I'm the same age..ish...^^^^ and chart positions were measured against the success of an artist, so even though the last 3/4 ABBA singles were "hits" they were deemed failures/flops whatever word you choose to use, compared to their previous out put . So for many not making the top 10 or even number 1 will probably be seen as failure after all of this hype and what will be promotion.. Of course it does depend on how good the singles will be, and the vast majority of us in here regardless , will think they will be great, as we are a little bias.... But the great buying public may think otherwise.. At this moment I'm trying to remain positive and depending on release format should be a top 10 hit.. obviously id love a number 1.... we wait...

Each to their own... but im not buying, gave up a long time ago, unless new material, what's the point.. if a collectors item I'll be long time dead before it would recoup its money, and extortionate now for something audiably we have a hundred times over... not sure how the new stuff will be released but sure hope it's in some physical form

Post by foreverfan on May 4, 2019 6:51:45 GMT
Surely you would think , that those who promote new singles would know unless chart rules change, what's the point of old acts releasing singles. It's not as if it's official yet that an album would be released, therefore the adage of the singles promoting the album will be a total waste of time.. same as Agnethas singles for A, not a hit single amongst them..
it does have the potential to be a huge disaster, but what other way to ensure a momentary successful return, thousands of physical releases..for the older generation to buy? emmm
As much as I want new material, do I really want a chart flop...
I'm really beginning to hope that it's just a new Album now.. mind you saying that we would probably still get 3 minor hits off the album, due to streaming etc.... can't win..

Just a word of caution.....again.... Madonna of equal standing to ABBA, has just released her new track in the UK with extensive promotion on radio 2... it has failed to chart (so far) after Two weeks to hit the top 75... As said before older acts can't get the hits they used to have, another good pointer will be if Kylies new hit , out now will chart...
Not looking good for that UK 10th number one....

With about 3 weeks to go, the favourites are the same as before, in the odds stakes Netherlands is a huge favourite way ahead of all other rivals. In the fan clubs states OGAE, Switzerland, Netherlands and Italy, are firm favourites, with the likes of Sweden, Cyprus, Russia, Azerbaijan , Norway, Iceland and Greece amongst the other runners....

I find it hard to understand that TYFTM is ranked at 20 .. seeing how Bad it charted here on the UK.. surely Under Attack, even a minor Christmas hit sold more ? Unless TYFTM has loads of streams..
Any definitive list? Of all singles....
