Some 'Mamma Mia! 2' Cast Members have now said that 'My Love, My Life' is in the 2nd Film. I regard that 'Arrival' Song as a sort of 'Twin', to the equally beautiful Song, from the 'ABBA' Album, 'I've Been Waiting For You'.
What an interesting statement, Colin. I was familiar with the Arrival album long before I ever heard any of the three previous albums, and ever since I first heard I've Been Waiting For You, something about it has reminded me of My Love, My Life. They’re both great songs, but I have always thought they are a bit similar.

Today Universal have added the Audio Video of 'Mamma Mia! 2's 'Fernando' to You Tube.
It is sung by Ruby, (Cher), and Fernando, (Andy Garcia). It is a vast improvement on 'Waterloo' from the Film, which Hugh Skinner has totally messed up, with his awful 'singing'.
It is hard to tell if Andy Garcia can sing, as his voice is so quiet compared to Cher's...

Also , and it may have been a one off, on UK radio 2 this morning they had a interview with Cher, including a little about MM2, with Chris Evans, a prominent breakfast DJ. After the interview they played Fernando to rave reviews..
all shaping nicely..

Graham -- Universal are not releasing a 2018 ABBA Compilation - to 'cash in' on 'Mamma Mia! 2'. The reason is simple and logical. They will want to include the 2 New ABBA Singles on such a Compilation, but 'I Still Have Faith In You' is not out until December and 'Don't Shut Me Down' could be released as late as March to June 2019. As such, Universal have no desire to release a New ABBA Compilation now, as they'd only have to release another one next Year - to include the 2 New Singles on it. However, Universal do not seem to want to promote 'More ABBA Gold' either, even though the 2nd Film has several Songs in it from that Compilation. At present, it looks like Universal will just 'watch; and 'sit back', to see if the 2nd Film gets 'ABBA Gold' to reach the UK Top 10 again. It will be harder for it to do it this time, as it has sold a further Million+ UK copies since the 1st Film, so there are less people interested in buying it, this time... So far, it looks like France is the only Country getting an ABBA Compilation, to cash in on Film 2. 'Forever Gold' is being re-issued there, on July 13th, with a fancy, attractive new cover, and that - of course - is just 'ABBA Gold' and 'More ABBA Gold', in a Double CD. As far as I can see, France is the only Country getting it. It will be called 'ABBA - Greatest Hits'... HERE ARE FULL DETAILS ABOUT THE FRENCH DOUBLE ABBA CD

Gary -- I know that 'Fernando' is not a patch on ABBA's original, but at least Cher can sing and it is a huge improvement on 'Waterloo', from the Film. Some say that Cher's voice is 'too deep' for 'Fernando'.
We know that none of the versions in Film 2 will be as good as ABBA's, so that should neither shock nor surprise us.
Remember - The Film's promote ABBA. For all of the awful singing and feeble 'Plots', ABBA get huge attention from the 'Mamma Mia!' Films.
I hear that Benny and Bjorn plan to make a 2nd Stage Musical from Film 2. However, it will only happen if Film 2 is a big success. It will be huge - even if it is only 50% as big as Film 1. There is no doubt that Film 2 will be a success. I don't think that it will be as big as the 1st Film. That made just over $600 Million Globally. 'Experts' are predicting that Film 2 will 'only' make just over $500 Million Globally. $100 Million less than Film 1. However, a lot of them think that Film 2 is the same ABBA Songs that were in Film 1! That is why they think that it won't do as well as Film 1. They are wrong about the Songs, of course, so they are making predictions based on false ideas.
I've already seen several 'Experts' saying that Film 2 only has 3 'Fresh' ABBA Songs in it! They are: 'I Wonder (Departure)', 'Angel Eyes', and 'When I Kissed The Teacher'. Other 'Experts' are even less well informed and they think that those 3 ABBA Songs are the only Songs in the entire Film!

So it looks as if all we will be getting is the Soundtrack, and precious little else, apart from Gold and possibly More Gold. In a funny sort of way I do understand, they have to do very little promotion , Soundtrack will sell its self once film is released, and Gold is a steady seller Year in year out, they might just push More, or have more stock available. We will probably have to wait another year once the new singles are released for any new kind of album, so for us the interest continues for at least another year or two.
As for Fernando, I feel for a cover, it's pretty good, hardly if anything can beat the originals, like so many classic songs, but Fernando is a track I feel is actually stuck on the 70s, so whether she can make a hit out of it remains to be seen, again depends how much impact the film makes, huge no doubt, but a hit hmmmm, personally I love Chers voice but prefer so far, When I Kissed The Teacher.

Graham -- I'm not expecting any of the Tracks from the 'Mamma Mia! 2' Soundtrack to be even medium sized 'Singles' Chart Hits - anywhere.
The 1st Film had several very small Hits taken from it, but that is all they managed. If I recall correctly, the biggest Film 1 'Singles' Hit, in the USA Hot 100, was 'Dancing Queen' by Meryl Streep and even that only reached No.99.
Only 1 Track from Film 1 reached the UK Top 75 - 'Honey Honey' by Amanda Seyfried and Friends. It reached No.61. Just 1 other Track reached the UK Top 100 - 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!' by Amanda Seyfried and Friends. That got no higher than No.91. ABBA got 2 re-entries due to the Film. 'Dancing Queen' - No.82 and 'Mamma Mia' - No.56.
So, I'm not expecting any Tracks from Film 2 to do much in the Charts. The same for any ABBA re-entries - if any return to the Charts at all...
The fact that no Tracks from Film 1 did much in any 'Singles' Charts, is of no consequence. The Soundtrack sold over 1,500,000 in the UK, almost 2 Million in the USA & over 7,700,000 Worldwide. The DVD sold over 5 Million in the UK and 15 Million to 20 Million Globally. The Film was the UK's 'All Time Biggest Film' in 2008. It is now at No.11 - having just dropped from No.10. So, the 2nd Film and its Soundtrack and DVD, will all be huge, despite no Tracks from it doing much in any 'Singles' Charts...

If one does not understand, I think his voice is "straightforward", solemn and free from the embarrassment. It is perhaps more heard in the headphones (I generally prefer listening to it) rather than that of speakers. His voice is more prominent in the verses, as pointed out in the obvious. I hope that there's a different mix for film where Garcia's voice is more heard than the studio version.

Would be nice to hear Arrival in the film. Maybe when Cher is arriving by helicopter. Would be a nod to the album cover.

A video was posted on Twitter this morning by someone who has attended one of the previews. It showed a clip of the end credits with all the songs featured in the film. It was quickly removed though but I think the following list is confirmed now:
Waterloo Hasta Manana SOS I've Been Waiting For You Mamma Mia Fernando Dancing Queen When I Kissed The Teacher Knowing Me, Knowing You My Love, My Life Why Did It Have To Be Me The Name Of The Game Hole In Your Soul Thank You For The Music Angel Eyes Kisses of Fire I Have A Dream Andante, Andante Super Trouper One Of Us
I looks like I Wonder has been cut and will probably end up as a deleted scene on the DVD. Some of these songs will be snippets but I'm surprised there are so many from the first film. Pity Summer Night City, If It Wasn't For The Nights or The Way Old Friends Do are not in it.

Matt - there are several ABBA Songs missing from 'your' 'Mamma Mia! 2' List, that have been mentioned by people connected with the Film as being in it. So, these 8 ABBA Songs were going to be in the Film, at one stage. They were probably even Filmed or Recorded for it. It is a great pity, if all 8 of them have now been cut from it.
This is especially sad, when it looks like as many as 7 ABBA Songs from Film 1 are to be repeated in Film 2...
It doesn't help, that the Film Soundtrack has still not been revealed. With only 3 of the 18 Tracks confirmed - 'When I Kissed The Teacher', 'Waterloo' and 'Fernando'. It is released on Friday July 13th and we still don't know 15 of the Tracks on it. Of course 'Mamma Mia' will be on it - so we know 4 out of 18 Tracks.
Here are the missing ABBA Songs - and who said they were in the Film:
1)... "I Wonder (Departure)" from The Album (1977) - Mentioned by Benny in September 2017
2)... "As Good As New" from Voulez-Vous (1979) - Mentioned by guitarist Janne Schaffer on an Aftonbladet Podcast
3)... "If It Wasn't for the Nights" from Voulez-Vous (1979) - Mentioned by guitarist Janne Schaffer on an Aftonbladet Podcast
4)... "On and On and On" from Super Trouper (1980) - Mentioned by guitarist Janne Schaffer on an Aftonbladet Podcast
5)... "Head over Heels" from The Visitors (1981) Mentioned by Lily James in an Interview
6)... "Like an Angel Passing Through My Room" from The Visitors (1981) - Mentioned by Dominic Cooper
7)... "Summer Night City" Non-Album Single (1978) - Mentioned by Judy Craymer
8)... "The Way Old Friends Do" from Super Trouper (1980) - Mentioned by Judy Craymer on Instagram

As you say, maybe these songs were recorded but later omitted from the film. However, it's been difficult to ascertain where certain sources have come from.
Judy Craymer posted a few photos on Instagram with lyrics for The Way Old Friends Do and Summer Night City but there was never any confirmation that this meant these songs were going to feature in the film. I haven't seen any articles with Dominic Cooper or Lily James naming Head Over Heels and Like An Angel Passing Through My Room and there are no links from the person who has added them to Wikipedia. Also I don't think As Good As New was mentioned by Janne Schaffer in that podcast as only If It Wasn't For The Nights and On And On And On were discussed when it was posted on ABBAtalk.
I guess we will find out in a couple of weeks.

Matt - I found this on You Tube.
As you can see, the 20 ABBA Songs are in the release order of the ABBA Albums that they were on...
Matt - Ah - So you chose the Songs order! I see now - in the credits - the Songs are not in Chronological order.

Yeah that's the video I took the list of songs from. I purposely ordered them chronologically as there didn't seem to be any proper sequence in the credits lol.

As always and if true as it possibly looks, it's a shame some didn't make the cut.. especially As Good As New...shame so many made it from MM , at the expense of those others..... Appealing to the popular vote, radio favourites....
Not long to go now, so all we be confirmed soon enough...

I've been told that they definitely Filmed Lily James, (Young Donna), singing 'I Wonder (Departure)', but they decided to cut it from 'Mamma Mia! 2'.
That doesn't mean that it won't be on the Film Soundtrack. They Filmed 'The Name Of The Game' for the 1st 'Mamma Mia!' Film. Then they cut it - but they still included it on the Film Soundtrack.
However, Universal have still not revealed all of the ABBA Songs on the 'Mamma Mia! 2' Soundtrack.
They have only confirmed 4 of them - 'Mamma Mia', 'When I Kissed The Teacher', 'Fernando' and 'Waterloo'. Which still leaves 14 Tracks that we don't know.
It is one thing for us to know which ABBA Songs are in the Film, but they will not all be included on the Soundtrack CD.
The Soundtrack to 'Mamma Mia! 1' also had 18 Tracks, but 3 of the Songs from the Film were not on it: 'Waterloo', 'Chiquitita', and 'I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do'. Oddly, 'The Name Of The Game' was on the Soundtrack, even though it was not in the Film... Universal are leaving it very late, to tell us. The Soundtrack is released on Friday 13th July...
As a result, a lot of 'Mamma Mia!' Fans are holding off ordering the 2nd Soundtrack, until they know exactly which ABBA Songs are on it. This has made the 2nd Soundtrack have less Media attention than that of Film 1. This has been noticed, and some people are saying that this - less attention - shows that both Film 2 and its Soundtrack are going to do very poorly.
So, this secrecy, from Universal, is doing the 2nd Film and its Soundtrack, no good at all...

There is a New Video Clip of Cher singing 'Fernando'. It confirms that Meryl Streep, ('Old' Donna), is in Film 2. Many Fans thought that Meryl was not in Film 2. That she had 'Died'.
Other Fans could not understand how Cher could be Meryl's Mother in Film 2. (Apart from Cher only being 3 or 4 Years older than Meryl). Some Fans insisted that Donna had said her Mother was 'Dead' in a scene from Film 1. She never said that. She said that she & her Mother had not been in touch for Years and that she assumed that her Mother was Dead. She was just speculating. Wrongly, as Film 2 proves...
FURTHER SPECULATION ON HOW WELL 'MAMMA MIA! 2' WILL DO
In the USA, it is being speculated that the 2nd Film will take about $28 Million to $30 Million on its opening Weekend there. Not much higher than Film 1 took in its opening Weekend - around $28 Million.
The 1st 'Mamma Mia!' was not a No.1 Film in the USA. It reached No.2. So, the 2nd Film will probably not get to No.1 there either...

I think that the Marketing of the 'Mamma Mia! 2' Soundtrack is awful.
It is now Wednesday July 4th. The Soundtrack is released on Friday 13th July - just 9 Days away.
Despite this, Universal have only told us 4 of the 18 Tracks on the CD. With 'Mamma Mia' being a 5th. That has to be included on the CD as it is the Title of both Film and Soundtrack.
We know that Track 1 is 'When I Kissed The Teacher'. Track 4 is 'Waterloo'. Track 15 is 'Fernando'.
Today, Universal have revealed that Track 13 is 'Dancing Queen.
They are leaving it incredibly late to announce the full CD Track List. A lot of people will not order it until they know what all 18 Tracks are.
I see that - today - HMV have removed the Soundtrack from their Web Site. I don't know if this means that Universal have postponed its release. The UK and USA Amazon are still selling it...
The whole thing feels like Universal are not as keen on promoting Film 2 as they were about Film 1. Like they are not fully interested in it.

Gary -- The part of the Video with 'Angeleyes' sounds rather half-hearted to me. Like the 'singers' are only partly interested in performing it. They look rather semi-interested too. It is very sad. They should have put huge effort into all of the ABBA Songs and they seem not to have bothered, to do so, with some of them. If the 2nd Film is weak, then the Director, Writer, Producer, and Benny and Bjorn only have themselves to blame. They had plenty of cash to make Film 2 energetic and exciting. If they have failed, then that is what they get for trying to be clever and coming up with an inferior 'Product'. I do hope that I'm wrong about Film 2. I was hoping that it would be better than it - so far - looks...
20 ABBA SONGS IN FILM 2 -- 7 REPEATED FROM FILM 1 -- 35% REPEATED
So, we know of 20 ABBA Songs in 'Mamma Mia! 2', but 7 of them were also in the 1st Film - that's 35%!
There was never any need or call for Benny & Bjorn to repeat so many ABBA Songs from Film 1. They have made it look like ABBA had so few strong Songs, that they had to use 7 Songs again, to have a decent number for Film 2. Very, very silly and stupid...
The 'Angeleyes' Clip sounds very half-hearted. It somehow lacks energy.
I've just listened to part of 'Dancing Queen' from Film 2, and that sounds rather feeble as well. Not as strong as it was in Film 1. (That is released as a 'Single' today. These 'Singles' are 100% pointless. None will be big Hits. It is the Soundtrack Album that they need to promote - and fast!!!).
There is no excuse for any of the Songs performed, in Film 2, to sound weak. I do hope that we get some better and stronger performances from the rest of the ABBA Songs in Film 2.
I still find it incredible, that Universal have still not said which 18 ABBA Songs are on the Soundtrack, even though that Soundtrack is due for release next Friday - 13th July. Another case of the 'Marketing' for Film 2 being a mess. They are really not trying. It is like Universal want Film 2 to do badly.
Due to the low key promotion of Film 2, there are already a lot of people who predict that it is going to 'flop'. Others say that the Soundtrack will struggle in the Album Chart. The whole thing seems 'dampened down', as if there is no real desire for it to be huge. I find it absolutely incredible, that this is happening.
Let's hope that real promotion of Film 2 starts soon. This pathetic releasing a 'Single' from it, every Week or so, is just not good enough...

I don't know if it is true or not, but I've been told that 'The Day Before You Came' is in 'Mamma Mia! 2.
But only as background music in one of the scenes.
It is a totally new instrumental arrangement - in a traditional Greek style,

Meryl Streep -- 'Old' Donna, sings on Tracks 16, 17 and 18. So much for the 'fears' of her Fans, that her character was not in Film 2, because she was 'Dead'. She sings Track 18 on her own.
THE TRACK LIST OF THE 'MAMMA MIA HERE WE GO AGAIN' SOUNDTRACK CD
At last - Tuesday 10th July 2018 - Universal have revealed its 18 Tracks.
These 4 ABBA Songs were mentioned in the Film's End Credits, but they have not been put on the Film Soundtrack CD - Hasta Manana, S.O.S., Hole In Your Soul and Thank You For The Music.
(Unless all 22 Tracks are to be put onto a 'Deluxe' Edition of the Soundtrack CD).
These 2 ABBA Songs were not in the End Credits of The Film, but they are on the Film Soundtrack CD:
I Wonder (Departure) and The Day Before You Came.
NOTE -- They may be in the Film, even though they are not in the End Credits.
@@@ = These ABBA Songs were also on the Soundtrack to 'Mamma Mia! 1'
01)... When I Kissed The Teacher
02)... I Wonder (Departure)
03)... One Of Us
04)... Waterloo -- (In the 1st Film - but not on the Soundtrack CD)
05)... Why Did It Have To Be Me?
06)... I Have A Dream -- @@@
07)... Kisses Of Fire
08)... Andante, Andante
09)... The Name Of The Game -- (But the Scene was cut from the Film) -- @@@
10)... Knowing Me, Knowing You
11)... Angel Eyes
12)... Mamma Mia -- @@@
13)... Dancing Queen -- @@@
14)... I've Been Waiting For You
15)... Fernando
16)... My Love, My Life
17)... Super Trouper -- @@@
18)... The Day Before You Came

Personally I won't buy the soundtrack but will see the film and if any good buy the DVD, once it hits the bargain bin..lol
The one thing I'm surprised about, is the lack of promotion especially for the soundtrack, are they under the belief MM2 will sell its self it probably will, but is it that certain?
It should be massive, it should go straight in at number one, but will it....

Graham - I think that Universal expect the Soundtrack to 'Mamma Mia! 2' to sell itself. They are relying on Soundtrack 1's 7,700,000 Global Sales, over 1,500,000 UK Sales and over 1,800,000 USA Sales, to sell the 2nd Soundtrack. It is a risk, and I don't like it, but we have to let Universal get on with it. They certainly don't seem to welcome any suggestions from ABBA Fans. They just ignore our attempted input.
So far the UK's 'Best Selling Album' of 2018 is 'The Greatest Showman'. Its 2018 UK Sales are just under 958,000. Its Total Sales, (2017 + 2018), are just under 965,000. It has been at No.1, (off and on), for 21 Weeks in 2018. That's the best UK No.1 Total, for a Film Soundtrack, since 'The Sound Of Music'. in the 1960's.
I have done research and I can tell you that for all of its UK success, 'The Greatest Showman' has not sold as well as the 'Mamma Mia! 1' Soundtrack did in 2008. Indeed, if they'd both been in the 2018 UK Top 10, at the same time, 'The Greatest Showman' would never have reached No.1 at all.
However, we are then left with the Soundtrack to 'Mamma Mia! 2'. Unlike the Soundtrack to Film 1, it will be allowed into the Artist, (Main), UK Album Chart. Will it sell as well as 'Mamma Mia! 1'? Will it outsell the Soundtrack of 'The Greatest Showman'? A lot of UK 'Chart Fans' say, 'No!'. They say that the fuss, hype and promotion of Film 2 has been much lower than for Film 1. They predict that the Soundtrack to Film 2, is not going to sell anywhere near as well as that of Film 1.
A lot of these 'doom and gloom' predictions are due to the more low key marketing. Not revealing the full Track List of the 2nd Soundtrack - until July 10th - did not help! You'd never have guessed that it was due in the shops just 3 days later - Friday July 13th! A lot of people really will not pre-order a Film Soundtrack, if they are only told a few of the Songs on it. The 18 ABBA Songs should have been revealed Weeks ago.
We will see how the 'Mamma Mia! 2' Soundtrack does in the UK & other Countries Charts. We'll know as soon as Week 2, (of release), if it is to come close to the Sales of 'Mamma Mia! 1'.
In November, we'll know if the DVD will sell anything like that of Film 1. The DVD sold almost 1,670,000, on Day 1, in the UK, and almost 3,200,000 in Week 1, in the UK. So, we will know within a Week if the DVD of Film 2 is going to come close to those Sales...
