I recall Bjorn mentioning quite recent about TKHLHC being a good song.... ( I agree but many don't ) and there may be others.. But you're right in the most part , outside of the " singles" they rarely mention any other track.... Its always in the the " ear" of the beholder, and for many of us there are great tracks outside of those 20 or so, or even worse the 15 you mentioned....

Oh Johnny , I feel I'm on the same page as you..... I have a little optimism left, not much, that we will get something new, I know it's only March, but time is running out if they wish to celebrate the actual 50th anniversary, That said, I'll give it until then I guess,, then dare I say call it a day and resign myself to that's it..... It's been a brilliant 50 years and I've enough to keep me going to my end....
That little ray of hope is fading......

Well that seems all very disappointing ^^ if that is the case... perhaps Bjorn was telling the truth !!🤔
With nothing forthcoming in way of surprises music wise that we know of ....... is it all actually over !!

Sorry if being a bit thick here....
Has anyone actually read the book yet or is this still all surmising.....
I does feel strange that if it's from the book why such a huge delay for NO surprise or any big reveal ? If that's the case a bit of a con?

Hello Mark..
It must be a non memory of mine as this is the first I've heard of it.
I'm not saying it didn't happen as you've obviously got proof, the 7 inch may only have been released into the big cities of the UK, it certainly wasn't in provincial Cornwall, and I was lucky to have an independent large record shop in my small town, I distinctly remember buying the12 inch and Gracias LP, there , we even-had Woolworths, all in a town of about 9,000. I waffle, but I doubt it sold very many at all, and would be surprised if many thousands....your correct on its 1981 sales and streams regularly over 300,000 daily today. Sorry can't shed any further light, although I do remember being able at the time to buy various imports, could this be more likely ?

I seem to be on a bit of a moan.... sorry...but....
Why only to 1980? We all know there's more and it will be like missing the final chapter of a book no matter how good the " book" may be.....also missing the first chapter......why....
so will It be a real reflection and as comprehensive as it could be ?
Yes of course I'll watch it, but knowing the ending will only cause frustration .. unless there's more to come ?
God I'm not enthusiastic What's happened ..lol

It's kept the conversation going at least..lol
The original premise was that some not all, will buy anything and there will be someone out there that' puts importance on something so trivial. Back to my original argument and I'm as guilty as the next I have many versions of the same track with different picture sleeves for instance, therefore I decided many years ago ..why.. so I stopped... The Frida " thumb" to me has the same principle of buying multiple copies in different colours of Voyage, for me ...why...
But as said it's harmless and individual to each of us, it's just not for me.....

Alan I do understand, the fact that some people will buy because, whether in 2001, 2024 or 2044. Is beyond my own personal reasoning, but as said each to their own and whatever makes you happy, it's harmless, but boy those marketing people know how to push buttons and get certain fans to put hands in their pockets....
All I ask for is for something new, and I'll be there in that queue
We move on, as said only my own opinion....

I seriously try to live and let live with people and thoughts, I may not always understand or get it right, but personally I found that Frida moving her thumb by a fraction , was beyond as they say... but hey if anyone wants to spend their money on that, who am I...
Fill your boots....

As so few of us and I guess we know each other fairly well to a point in our fandom, so I hope no one takes offence and as we often cite, it's a personal point of view and no offence is given.. phew now that's been said..lol..
I for one won't be buying it... I really don't see the point, and no doubt it will be comparatively expensive, that aside I don't see why What would I do, put it in a box then in a cupboard, eventually die( sorry) for someone to give to a charity shop.. that's all very dire, but I think you get the idea.
Yes , once I was an avid collector , but how many copies of the same track do I really need , I'd rather save my money and go and explore the world while we still have one..
Each to their own and yes I understand why, but not for me.... just hoping that we get something new and I guess by that I mean unheard

someone has to start it....
Well its rapidly drawing upon us and quite a few countries have chosen artists and songs already. For those who don't know the UK is represented by Olly Alexander with Dizzy, a 20 second clip has been released today, from what you can hear it's not to bad, but we say that every year..lol full release is 1st March..
current favourites are Ukraine, personally not great, but will get the votes for obvious reasons..
Ive a soft spot for Italy and they are in the process of choosing their entry at the San Remo festival.. my favourite is the following and if chosen could do very well at Malmo....

Thank you Colin, it's amazing that Gold is still breaking records, it's hard to see what Universal can do to make the public buy any other compilation......
Gold is at 12 in this weeks UK album charts after spending 5 consecutive weeks in the top 10 , peaking at 4 selling on average around 5,500 a week, even at 12, so pretty consistent which is approx a 1000 a week more than last year...it has to be partly due to the Voyage effect.
Streaming is pretty good DQ daily streams approx 1 million , GGG , around 500.000, approx equating when all other tracks are added in to around 5 million streams a day for Abba. No wonder Gold rides so high.....

Putting into perspective and nearly being 50 years old.... It's really not a bad version above...
I think we can get a flavour of what might have been if done by ABBA, with the girls on lead vocals... another of those.. if only......

There's probably plenty of other comparisons out there.....
Just listened to UK Radio 2 Vernon Kay, playing Beverly Knight ' Not Prepared For You " and a line in it my Heart was Hit Like A Train, ( mentioned more than once) So that elusive track/ title may not be to far off the mark if it exists...... After all it is just figuratively speaking and nothing dark and sinister... to much " woke" these days...
Isn't Bjorn a tease, what is he up to...... Benny being his usual self in no comment....

Ok, this could be all cloaks and daggers stuff, that said why mention in the first place, how could we ever trust again, stupid, yes we'd probably forgive if something happened, but why bloody well mention that's it all over , then voile two new tracks, it really doesn't make sense...
So all the supposedly exciting build up of 2024. Is turning rapidly into nothing at all, a " new " Waterloo and a second rate TV show in Sweden..oh dear....
I try to be optimistic, but this is now proving to be difficult.....
My favourite saying with ABBA comes to mind ..we wait and see, but realistically if nothing happens this year, then it's well and truly over isn't it.....

I'll hear nothing bad about KOF, lol... a firm favourite......
As with all of these topics it's personal preference of course... for me the gentle intro, exploding makes the whole track magical.. should've been the A side.. not that I'm bias..lol

If this is all that's happening , there's going to be a lot of upset fans.... Surely there is going to be more than this... a few trinkets won't cut it.....
I know we tend to get a bit underwhelmed, and there will be those who say they owe us nothing, but remember it's " us" who got them to where they are today, that's harsh but you know what I mean, rumours are rife of course and they are just that until anything happens...so I guess we wait and see... we're very good at that ...
As an aside.. how many think 2024 is it, nothing else.......

Not wanting to put it down....ABBA Platinum.. ( if it's going to exist) can it really replace Gold.... I'm not to sure.. let's be honest Universal will want it to sell to the masses not just us few.. would 2 new tracks do it ? , yes this is all surmising and speculation, but just look at what people stream on table below apart from STMF and Angeleyes, all are on Gold so would two unknown tracks if it happens entice , alternate version, doubtful, masses only want the originals it's only us that want different versions, personally I'd love to see those missing verses on DQ and OAOAO added... but hey Im hopeful but not to optimistic on success, a flash in the pan entry.. to Golds detriment....

I think we forgot to mention in top 5000 for 1980s
I Know Him So Well with sales of 756,190
the 31st best selling track of the 80s still a fair way from previous projections of around 900,000 But that may well have achieved that by now. Plus I still believe that it’s still the best selling track by a female duo with n the UK…

I have to agree with Alan at this stage, nothing to get excited about, we’ve seen it all before in one form or another, so called artists performing usually sub standard covers, So alas not for me at the moment..
Are we being to critical? Probably….

For those that are interested , from another site UKMIX. Some members have compiled a top 5000 of sales from the 1980s Here are ABBAs sales, apparently very accurate.....
Here are ABBA's UK 1980s sales from Robbie
#42 Super Trouper, 698, 028
#115 One of Us, 525, 302
#152 The Winner Takes it All 475,775
#1056 I Have a Dream 186,138
#1107 LAYLOM. 178,248
#1534 Head Over Heels 132,664
#1866 Under Attack, 103,712
#2048 The Day Before You Came, 88, 892.
#3082 Thankyou for the Music, 44,489
#2546 I Know There’s Something Going On, 62,120
#3059 The Heat is On 44, 846
#4010 Wrap Your Arms Around Me 26,724
I was always sceptical about TWTIA selling over 500k let alone 600k. The minor hits did better than I expected.

So sorry to hear Johnny, I hope your as ok as you can be...... Words are never enough.
It's been a year of hell for myself as well, my mum passed in March, my partners parents ( I was close to) went in June and August , and just this month an Uncle, so totally get what your going through, and grief is different for everyone, and we go through it our way..
Easy to say, look after yourself.
