Maybe with the renewed ABBA hype, we'll finally learn some more about this?

Just had to stop by to share in the excitement! I never thought this day would come. I was born in the 90's and I didn't become a big ABBA fan until 2014, so I"ve never experienced new ABBA. I even missed out on the excitement of Agnetha's comeback with A.

The fake Swedish accents were the icing on the cake. I was howling.

1. Super Trouper 2. The Visitors 3. Arrival 4. Voulez-Vous 5. The Album 6. ABBA 7. Ring Ring 8. Waterloo
This list is just based off of the original studio albums. If you take bonus tracks into account, The Visitors would overtake Super Trouper pretty easily. And as much as I love the best songs on Waterloo, I enjoy the consistency of Ring Ring better than Waterloo's let's-try-everything-and-see-what-sticks approach.

Unfortunately, it's pretty clear that The Singles: The First Ten Years was not made for the CD market. It does not conveniently fit on one disc like Gold does, nor is it quite long enough to justify a two disc set (The Definitive/Essential Collections are 2 CDs and include everything here and more). Yes, it was issued on CD back in the day, but once other compilations started coming out, it stopped being relevant to casual fans. It would be nice to get a vinyl reissue, because the cover art is lovely, but Gold took its place when it came to vinyl reissues too. I understand why they'd want to keep Gold one of the best selling albums of all time, but it is a shame that this album is all but forgotten because it has even more songs and the cover is so much better than the bland Gold artwork. I think if I could only keep on ABBA album on vinyl, it would be The Singles.

Getting these in the US has been a pain. The 180 gram black vinyl reissues were released in the US (surprisingly), but the colored LPs were only released in Europe. There were import preorders up on Amazon US, so I preordered Wrap Your Arms Around Me and Shine, but they never got them in stock. I've since ordered from secondhand sellers, hopefully they actually send me the color LPs and are not just listed on the wrong product page. We'll see. The color choice for Eyes of a Woman still baffles me. I know there's blue in Lycka, but there's no reason that LP should not be navy blue. Mr Love , Here's a tweet I found with pictures of all of them. The SGO/Shine/Lycka ones don't really look like the mockups in the promo picture posted above. Something's Going On looks more like a wine color, Shine is a much darker green (it even says light green on the label), and the colors for Lycka are the same, but it just has a different design (it looks cool either way though).

This is a matter about me just being a really picky collector, but I'd appreciate the help of anyone who knows about the deluxe edition reissues. My ABBA CD collection consists of the 2001 remasters (which were released here in the US, unlike the deluxe editions). I've decided that I'd love to replace them with the deluxe editions, but there's one catch - I'd really prefer to have the jewel case versions. I don't really like digipaks in general, and the deluxe ones are especially big and clunky. I know that all 8 (not sure about Gracias) deluxe albums were released in jewel case versions, but looking at American sellers that are selling imports, the digipaks are way more common and cheaper too. Are the jewel case versions super rare or something? Is it a lost cause or does someone know a decent way I could purchase at least a few of them online?

^Sounds like it borrows its verses from the same song that this one does.

Nice, what are the 3 singles at the top near Knowing Me Knowing You? Fernando/Rock Me (Atlantic) Take A Chance on Me/I'm A Marionette (Atlantic) Take A Chance on Me/I'm A Marionette (Epic, although it was wrongfully put in a "Decca" sleeve by a previous owner) And just today I found the Atlantic pressing of I Know There's Something Going On/Threnody in a generic Atlantic sleeve for a dollar at the flea market! Wrap Your Arms Around Me (2005 Re-issue) I didn't know Wrap Your Arms Around Me was reissued. It was re-issued on CD in 2005 along with Eyes of a Woman, Nu tändas tusen juleljus, Ensam, Something's Going On, and Shine. They all feature bonus tracks (at least the English ones do), but it unfortunately neglects my favorite version of Can't Shake Loose - the US AOR remix.

I understand making things limited, but especially with ABBA over any other group/artist I've been a fan of, the fans with money always snatch everything up so quickly and me, a broke college student, can never keep up. I would have loved a picture disc but even at a cheap price, I'd have to wait until Christmas to even think about ordering something like that. (Especially since I'd be importing). I wish they could come up with a number of limited editions to where they won't sell out right away, but they can still sell them all, just over a longer period of time. The main problem with the situation is the greedy people who snatch the stuff up just to sell it for 10x the original price. It also makes me feel like I have to stay on top of what's being reissued, which is annoying, because you could be unaware of a reissue until it's already sold out.
I guess that's the upside of the constant releases though, if you miss something, there will be some other reissue down the line. Many fans who already have everything complain about the constant reissues, but when you're a newer fan, it's actually kind of nice.

What do you all think of "Comfort Me," the closing song on Shine? This was a standout when I first heard the album, and it's become one of my favorite Frida solo songs. The production is dark and eerie (it always reminded me a little of "Like an Angel...," although the lyrics are more similar to "Should I Laugh or Cry" and maybe "You Know What I Mean"). I just learned it was a cover, originally by The Hitmen in 1981.

When I first got into ABBA it was never really confusing to me as I knew it was blonde girl + guy without beard and red head + guy with beard. Then I saw the One of Us video and wondered why there were only three members in the video.
These pictures are reminding me how attractive Benny was in the 1970s.

Around this time last year, it came to light that an actor who was in a hit TV series called 7th Heaven here in the USA did something many years ago similar to what Robert Hughes was convicted of. It was too long ago for him to be prosecuted, but it looks like the reruns of 7th Heaven will never be on TV again. I don't know if the show is available on DVD. I remember this happening, but oddly enough, I still see 7th Heaven being played all the time when I flip channels. There's one specific channel that plays it a lot.

Edit: According to the Museum site, the vinyl album is just the ten tracks, split into threes or twos. A bit unnecessary when it's such a short album anyway It's 45 rpm instead of the standard 33 1/3 rpm for LPs, which means there is less room on each side. Some people on Facebook were saying that 45 rpm makes for better sound quality (I don't know anything about rpms myself, except that singles are usually 45 and albums 33 1/3), but I'm sure it's not coincidence that issuing it as a double album gives them reason to charge a higher price.
